Reuben’s Big 3’s: Celebrating Reuben’s 3rd birthday

October marks the third year of the hotel’s partnering with Reuben Riffel’s award-winning restaurant Reuben’s at the five star One&Only Cape Town which is centrally located at the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront in Cape Town, South Africa. Thanks to the great passion for local produce and homegrown culinary style, Reuben’s restaurant at the hotel has proven to be a favourite amongst local and international visitors alike.

With South African cooking styles and flavoursso close to Chef Reuben’s heart, it was only a matter of time before he turned his attention to that quintessential style of South African cooking and released his famous third cookbook, ‘Braai – Reuben on Fire’.

Of course, guests at Reuben’s restaurant at the One&Only Cape Town Resort have the opportunity to sample some of his braai-style food for themselves. The summer menu features a number of delicious flame-grilled specialities ranging from spicy Mozambican prawns to succulent lamb racks.  The chef’s book ‘Braai – Reuben on Fire’ is available for purchase at the One&Only Cape Town and at book stores throughout South Africa.

Executive Chef Roberto de Carvalho offers an incredible, authentic Portuguese culinary journey on 15 October 2013 for R 295.00 per person at the Isola Poolside Restaurant.

Diners will start their exciting journey with Chef Roberto and discover the distinctive ingredients traditional Portuguese dishes are made of and inspired Roberto to become a chef. Guest Speakers Update

The One&Only Cape Town Resort welcome’s a new guest speaker to the series – Douglas Rogers. Born and raised in Zimbabwe, the award-winning author of ‘The Last Resort’, tells the tale of how his parents, owners of Drifters, a famous game farm and backpacker lodge, were caught in the cross-fire when Zimbabwe’s president launched the violent program to reclaim white owned land. Instead of leaving, they hauled out a shotgun and decided to stay.  Listen to Douglas as he talks about his book, his parents, the recent elections in Zimbabwe and life in the US.
