Introducing Nelspruit
The city of Nelspruit, also called Mbombela, is located in the north eastern part of South Africa in the Mpumalanga Province. Nelspruit is the capital of Mpumalanga which used to be the Eastern Transvaal. Set on the Crocodile River, Nelspruit is situated about 100 kilometres west of the border to Mozambique border and 330 kilometres east of Johannesburg in Gauteng.Many orange farms can be found in the surrounding area of Nelspruit.Nelspruit is a major manufacturing and agricultural hub for the north eastern region of South Africa.
The main industries located here include the canning of citrus fruit, paper production, furniture manufacture and timbermills. The fertile soil combined with the subtropical climate provide perfect conditions for the growing of citrus and tropical fruits, such as oranges, mangos, bananas, avocados and Macadamia nuts.
Nelspruit is home to the Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport (KMIA) which connects South Africa's major centres such as Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town as well as other countries with the capital city of Mpumalanga. Many game logdes and country retreats are located in close proximity to Nelspruit.
