Introducing Fourways

Located in the far north of Sandton, the district of Fourways has been the focus of rapid commercial and residential development in recent years. In essence, Fourways forms a buffer between the urban sprawl of Johannesburg and the Highveld countryside beyond.

Fourways was originally part of a large game farm owned by the Eriksen family. Their Cape Dutch styled home, Norscot Manor, is still in existence today, housing a library, recreation centre and small restaurant. Over the years, the Erikson's farm was sold off piecemeal, eventually forming the core suburb of Norscot. Fourways continued to expand, growing seven more suburbs including those of Douglasdale and Lonehill.

Best Kept Secret

Lonehill and Norscot Koppies

Geologically, Fourways is of great interest. Both Norscot and Lonehill Koppies are superb examples of Sandton Tors - spherically weathered granite clusters that are millions of years old.

Norscot Koppie is situated in Kingfisher Nature Reserve, open every second weekend. Follow the self-guided trail through the boulder-strewn hills, grassland, bush and small dams. Entrance off Alexander Road, Fourways. Lonehill Koppie is  set on 20 acres of veld and is open on weekends for visitors. Entrance off Lonehill Boulevard.
