Guests staying at the Rorkes Drift Hotel have the opportunity to explore the battlefield at Rorkes Drift while being guided and learn the history and significance of the area.  Guides show guests the significant places in the Drift and paint a picture of the rich history which took place in this scenic region of South Africa.

Horseback trails

What better way to explore this beautiful area of KwaZulu-Natal than on horseback? On trails through the Drift, guests may enjoy the scenery and the experience while riding a horse.  Explore as they did in the old days; no cars, just nature.  Trained horses are available to all who are reasonably fit.

Swimming

The Hotel features a beautiful outdoor swimming pool.

Day tours

• Itala Game Reserve: Guests may drive in their own vehicle around the well maintained road network. The reserve is well known for good sightings of elephant and rhino
• Nambiti Private Game Reserve: See the Big 5 and a diverse habitat. Found just North of Ladysmith
• Ladysmith: This town was besieged by the Boers in 1900 and was a focal point of the South African War until its relief
• Colenso: Battle site, South African War 1899-1902
• Majuba Mountain, Volksrust.Site of the defeat of the British force at the end of the First Boer War
• Luneburg: Battle site during the Zulu War

The Library - Rorkes Drift Hotel

The smallest and most private of the three conference venues is the Library which can accommodate up to 10 guests for a conference or meeting when seated in boardroom style.  Catering is available for conference delegates.

The Theatre - Rorkes Drift Hotel

The Theatre conference venue at the Rorkes Drift Hotel near Dundee, KwaZulu-Natal, can accommodate up to 40 guests comfortably.  Comfortable chairs and relaxed surroundings offer the perfect conditions for a successful conference or meeting.
