Enjoy nature at its best while staying at the Trout Cottage. Featuring three well appointed bedrooms, a kitchen and dining area and cosy living room, the cottage is an ideal hideout for small groups and families. Set in a private area of the Boschendal Estate, surrounded by fruit orchards and vines, the scenic Simonsberg Mountains make for a beautiful setting.
Step out the front door for walking and trail running on the slopes and mountain biking on Sugarbowl Mountain. Otherwise, enjoy a spot of R&R, Boschendal-style, and relax under the magnificent oaks surrounding the adjacent Rhodes Dam, or take a dip in the clear water. This Cottage is ideal for families and active groups of friends. It can accommodate 4 adults and 2 kids and is dog friendly. Please note that guests staying at Trout Cottage must have their own transport as the cottage is 2km from the reception and historical Werf area.
The Rhodes Cottage, built by Sir Herbert Baker, a renowned architect, is situated 2 km from the main Werf (restaurant and deli area). It consists of a main house with three bedrooms sharing a bathroom and a garden annex with 2 bedrooms.
The house sleeps up to a total of 10 people, 6 in the cottage and 4 in the garden annex.

From Cape Town along the N1
Follow the N1 towards Paarl. Take Exit 47 Stellenbosch, Wellington and Klapmuts. Turn right at the bottom of the slip road onto the R44 and immediately pass under the N1. Go over the next 4 -way stop. Approximately 500 m after the stop take the next left to Franschhoek/Simondium (R45). After 8.5 km (approx 5.5 miles), at the T-Junction, turn right for Franschhoek. After 3.6 km (approx 2.5 miles) turn right onto the R310 to Stellenbosch. The Boschendal entrance is 1.5 km (1 mile) further along on the left hand side.
From Cape Town along the N2
Follow the N2 direction Strand/Somerset West. Take the R310 - Baden Powell Drive turnoff. Turn left at the top of the slip road direction Stellenbosch. Travel towards Stellenbosch, past Spier and Van Rijn Brandy Cellar. At the T-junction, turn right for Stellenbosch. Travel towards Stellenbosch past Distell, keeping to the left and filter left onto the R44. Travel through the bottom of Stellenbosch past Simonsberg Cheese factory on the left. At the fourth set of traffic lights turn right onto the R310 to Franschhoek. Follow this road for approximately 16 km (approx 10 miles). You will travel over the Helshoogte pass, through small villages called Kylemore, Johannesdal and Pniel. The Boschendal entrance is on the right hand side, about 1 km after the Pniel Primary School.
