The lovely conservatory-style dining room provides a happy and welcoming atmosphere to all guests, where both brunch in the mornings, and dinner of a evening can be enjoyed. Dinner is a 4 course set menu where guests can dine under the candle light. Brunch is served after after the morning game drive and guests are offered the option of either a continental breakfast or a full English.
With a crackling fire in the winter months, guests can enjoy a lovely afternoon tea including; scones, cake and delicious wraps/sandwiches.
Highlights of this retreat are the morning and evening game drives through the 10 000 acre nature reserve. There are many animals, easily seen in the low Fynbos or on the grassy plains, but the most important inhabitant of the reserve is a far smaller creature: the endangered geometric tortoise, one of the world's rarest reptiles; safe here in its last remaining viable habitat. The dam at the Bartholomeus Klip Farmhouse is a great place to take the canoe into the water and to enjoy a leisurely ride.
Guests can take part in trout fishing along the dam.
The Deckhouse can be found close to the farm dam, which is a short walk away from the main house. As well as being an amenity for guests, the Deckhouse is much in demand for intimate weddings and conferences. The country retreat offers several different packages, available on application, for these. Their experienced staff takes great pleasure in organising these events and meeting the challenges of special requests. Cocktail parties and year-end functions for around 30 people can also be arranged to suit individual requirements. The day and overnight conference packages are based on small numbers can take up to 30 people for a day conference, or 16 overnight in shared accommodation.
