Introducing Kameeldrift
Only fifteen minutes from the centre of Pretoria, Kameeldrift lies on the south western corner of the Dinokeng area, a culturally and naturally rich section of Gauteng. Over the years, a small enclave of residential properties and luxury lodges and estates, including conference venues and an award-winning spa, has grown on what was once scarcely populated farmland. The Moreletta Spruit wends through the village of Kameeldrift, and Roodeplaat Dam Nature Reserve is just a stone's throw away.
Dinokeng - meaning "the place of rivers" – has begun to establish itself as an important and exciting tourist destination where cultural, historical and safari activities abound. An important catchment area for both the Olifants and Limpopo Rivers, it is no surprise that Dinokeng boasts some beautiful rivers and dams, including Roodeplaat Dam and Rust de Winter Dam. Attractions of this area include Cullinan Diamond Mine, Sammy Marks Museum, and Willem Prinsloo Agricultural Museum in the southern half, and to the north, the Rust de Winter Nature Reserve and Hammanskraal. A plethora of game reserves can be found throughout the area.
Getting there
Kameeldrift can be reached via the N1 Pietersberg, taking the Zambesi Drive/Cullinan exit.
