Pristine and vast estuary fishing for light tackle fishing as well as enjoy excellent offshore fishing

Rio Azul Lodge has two 31 foot fishing boats designed for a variety of types of Deep-sea fishing. With a selection of good fishing spots not far off the coast, a wide variety of fish can be caught here.

The most commonly caught fish being King Mackerel (Cuta), King Fish, Queenfish and during the right season, Marlin and Sailfish are regularly caught.

The lodge offers a variety of different fishing techniques, - lure, fly, jigging and bait fishing.

The Govuro River estuary provides several species of fish for light tackle fishing and fly-fishing. The snapper and grunter make these waters their home, however, the juvenile game fish such as Barracuda and other varietals such as Rock cod and Honeycomb rays can frequently be found here as well.

Snorkelling

Snorkelling in Mozambique

Paradise Island

Paradise Island in the Bazaruto Archipelago provides the best snorkelling available, with shoals of colourful fish and beautiful corals in the shallow clear waters of the Indian Ocean around the island. Turtles and the harmless black-tip reef shark can be seen while diving in the shallows.

Bird Watching Holidays At Rio Azul

The pristine unspoilt estuary creates an ideal destination for any bird watching enthusiast.

Rio Azul offers a bird walk along the Rio Azul shores and in the surrounding bush of the lodge. A variety of common and exotic birds can also be seen during boat rides on the estuary.

Beach Front Chalet

Rio Azul Lodge has six picturesque thatched Beach Front Chalets with each chalet consisting of a twin bedroom with two ¾ beds. For children under 16 years old, the chalet is equipped with a pull-rollout bed. Coffee and Tea is provided in the chalet, alongside use of the estuary boats and sea kayaks. Each Chalet has a wonderful beach-front view ideal for watching the spectacular sunsets over the beach, the estuary and the sea.

Beach Front Villa

Two luxurious Beach Front Villas consisting of three double bedrooms, sleeping a maximum of six adults with a loft providing three bunk beds for six children under 16 years. A private deck alongside a sparkling swimming pool, seating areas with both beach chairs and a dining room table offers spectacular views of sunsets over the beach and sea. Each kitchen is fitted with a modern stove, microwave, kettle, toaster and other everyday amenities that you may require during your stay. The Rio Azul Lodge Villas have a large comfortable lounge area that offers plenty of seating for all.
