Activities, Sports & Leisure

Game drives

The Pilanesberg Private Lodge is located in the Black Rhino Private Reserve, which forms part of the Greater Pilanesberg National Park.  The Black Rhino Private Reserve nestles in the North Western corner of the Pilanesberg National Park.

It is just under 2000 hectares in size and is the first portion of private land which has been incorporated into the Pilanesberg National Park.  The plan is to include the entire area between the Pilanesberg National Park and the Madikwe Game Reserve to form the "Heritage Park" which will be about  300 000 hectares.

The Pilanesberg Private Lodge has traversing rights across the entire park (57 000 hectares) in their open game vehicle. The vegetation which can be found here is predominantly sweetveld and it compliments the sourveld and mixed veld of the park.   It is here where the Buffalo is often seen as they have taken shelter in the more remote areas which are not accessible to other visitors.

The malaria free game reserve is characterized by many Tambotie trees and therefore regular sightings of the mighty Black rhino occur. The Black Rhino Private Game Reserve is entered exclusively through the lodge's private entrance gate on the westen side of the reserve.

The 'Big Five' can be found here which are lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant, white and black rhino as well as cheetah and wild dog. Antelope species include sable, tsessebe, eland, gemsbok and springbok.
