Chef's Table: Mount Nelson hotel chef's encourage guests to experience some of the hotel’s most exceptional cuisine in the heart of their kitchen. This table is a custom-designed interactive culinary encounter featuring only the most exquisite cuisine paired with spectacular wines. The Chef’s Table operated by the Executive Chef and his team with just a small selection of servers on hand, making this dining session very exclusive. Guests can observe the preparation of particular dishes, and then as each sublime course is plated and served, the chefs are on hand to share recipes, anecdotes and the inspiration behind each dish. The Chef’s Table is available for reservations seven days a week and can accommodate a minimum of 6 people and a max of 12.

Planet Restaurants: The dishes at this Restaurant are prepared from both local and traditional ingredients that have even led the Chef to create some of the most unusual but delicious recipes such as; crocodile; rooibos cured ostrich and springbok. Guests will no doubly be offered the chance to experience some of the world's unique meals that will leave them wanting more.

Planet Bar: This unique and lively Planet bar allows guests the chance to sit back and enjoy some stunning cocktail mixes and also treat themselves to some pre-dinner Champagne. During the summer months, the terrace is perfect for those relaxing afternoons however in winter; guests can enjoy the fireplace with the glass of red in hand surrounded by the twinkling ceiling lights overhead, proving an out of this world experience.

Oasis Restaurant: Mount Nelson guests have the chance to enjoy meals on the outside terrace while soaking up the Cape Town hot weather in the summer months. They also have indoor facilities and offers both cold & cooked breakfast options as well as various delicious lunch dishes. The Sunday Jazz Brunch is perfect for you after a long busy week. The buffet offers a broad range of different dishes from your favourite breakfast meal to your choice of hot and cold dishes prepared to perfection; you will not leave here hungry.

High Tea is like no other and is one of the best places in the City to enjoy this delightful experience. Famous bloggers and travel writers worldwide have even described it as being one of the best afternoon tea experiences in the world. The High Tea is offered daily at the Hotel and leaves guests stuck for choice when it comes to choosing which cake they would love to try. Afternoon Tea is served in the Lounge, Terrace or the garden around the Lord Kitchener Fountain

Morning Tea at the Nelly has a little fewer options as opposed to the Afternoon Tea, however. Nevertheless, it still offers variety. Here, guests are provided with the ideal opportunity for them to hold a small business meeting or socialise with friends and family. Morning Tea is served in the Lounge, on the Terrace or in the garden around the Lord Kitchener Fountain, with tiered stands delivered to the table.

• The family-friendly hotel in Cape Town has nine acres of gardens an ideal environment for children to run free. The Guest Services team is always on hand to recommend the city’s best family restaurants, suggest destinations for educational excursions, and arrange babysitting services.

  Babysitting Services: The hotel outsources babysitting services to a well-known organisation. The company aims to match the perfect childminder to every child, and also caters for international languages. 24 hours notice is required to process babysitting requests. However, the hotel always does its utmost to accommodate last minute requirements, and an hourly rate for the service, with a minimum of three hours, required.
  
  Family Fun at the hotel: The Guest Services team gladly assists families in planning a child-friendly holiday itinerary. Excursions and activities may include the likes of children parties, swimming lessons & tennis lessons.
  Sightseeing visits: the penguin colony at Boulders Beach, boat trips to Seal Island and Table Bay, museums and the planetarium, the gemstone Scratch Patch, farmyards, the zoo, bird and butterfly parks.
  
  The Children's Club: The fully supervised centre is available to residents and non-resident hotel guests at no extra charge when you visit the Librisa Spa or any of the hotel's restaurants and bars.
  
  The Nellie & Nelson Activity Centre: for children between the ages of 0 and 12: Come rain or shine, the children’s centre is a hive of activity. On the ground floor, just a short stretch from the Hotel Lounge. They have a range of thrilling educational games and toys, a big screen TV complete with a selection of age-appropriate instructional DVDs, a blackboard wall, a Nintendo Wii, cosy carpets, bean bags and child-friendly furniture. A floor-to-ceiling mural depicts the hotel’s great African Penguin, along with other animals. Organisers arrange group games to storytelling, throughout the day. The play area has a baby-changing facility.
  
  Teens Lounge: for over 12's and under 18's: The teen lounge area, which is located adjacent to The Nellie and Nelson Activity Centre, is the ideal meeting place. A styling space, fresh feel, and XBox 360 games, a Nintendo Wii, a computer, and big screen TV with a selection of age-appropriate DVDs provide good fun and entertainment. Coming soon is a specific teen program featuring cooking classes, organised dinners and other group activities. The fully supervised centre is available to non-resident hotel guests at no extra charge when supporting the Librisa Spa or any of the Food and Beverage outlets.

Social Responsibility

• Onsite Eco Initiatives

  • The establishment of an on-site ‘worm farm’ (or vermiculture centre) to process leftover food and other organic matter into compost, which is used to fertilise the hotel’s gardens
  • Replacing all non-aesthetic lighting in the hotel with energy saving bulbs
  • Using natural spring water to irrigate the estate
  • Recycling of plastic, glass, paper, tin and cardboard
  • Exercising environmentally-friendly gardening, planting indigenous trees, recycling lawn clippings and reducing the number of chemicals used
  • Utilising environmentally friendly, biodegradable cleaning products
  • Using low sulphur diesel to power our electricity generators

  These measures have led to the hotel receiving accreditation from the Heritage Environmental Programme, which measures and monitors a broad range of social and economic factors and recognises resource and educational initiatives designed to ensure long-term sustainability.
  
  Staff Programme
  
  The ‘Make The Difference Staff Recognition Programme’ was designed to encourage staff to recognise and acknowledge the daily efforts to the hotel’s standards.
  
  Charitable Initiatives

  • Excess food is given to Feedback - a collection and delivery service responsible for the redistribution of surplus food to the poor
  • Supporting the 'Proudly South African' campaign by stocking South African products in mini-bars
  • Donation of excess room amenities (L’Occitane toiletries, bed linen, furniture and appliances) to selected charitable organisations
  • Eighty per cent of stock purchased for the Signature Boutique supports small local crafters, traders and community projects
  • The Adele Searle 100 Club.  This independently run organisation started 26 years ago and monthly lunches for its members at the hotel since 1990. It contributes to 55 charities and makes 86 bursaries for underprivileged students possible.
