Water sports

The Medjumbe Private Island which lies in the magnificent Quirimbas Archipelago, Mozambique, is a nature lover's paradise and most of the resort's activities enable guests to delight in the island's natural wonders. The resort's Activities Center provides the base from which a range of activities are offered.

For guests who enjoy water sports, the Medjumbe Island Resort is a natural playground: guests may choose sailing, windsurfing and water skiing. The Gulf Craft 20' Swan is used for water skiing and tubing, with wake and knee boards also available. The sailing craft include a Gypsy sailing dinghy whilst Kayaking is also available.

Fishing

These oceans are most certainly not short of stunning and exciting new fish species to which guests can experience on the Resorts very own fishing boat equipped with a long T-Top that can protect guests from the hot, tropical sun. On board, the captain and gillie present guests with tackle, lures and bait, and ensure that they have the best professional guidance, whatever the ability. One of the world's most renowned fishing destinations is accessible from the Quirimbas and showcases the St Lazarus Banks which is a stunning sea mountain. This Island Resort offers luxury live-aboard boat trips on the 42-ft catamaran Broadbill, which is also based at Pemba.

Diving

The Resort supply's one the best diving areas of untouched coral reefs and marine species in the world. Some of these fish include; Moray Eels and Barracudas as well as Dolphins and Humpback Whales which swim here between August and October. Loggerhead and Green Turtles are too often seen in the water, coming ashore to lay their eggs on the sandy island beaches - sometimes right in front of the beach chalets.

Medjumbe Private Island, Quirimbas Archipelago in Mozambique

Shaped like a dropped pearl, the Medjumbe Private Island lies at the northernmost reach of the 250km long Quirimbas Archipelago in Mozambique.It is a spectacular 45-minute flight away from the mainland Pemba in northern Mozambique.

Access to the Medjumbe Private Island is via a scenic light aircraft, operated by CFA Air Charters, transfer from Pemba Airport take 48 min. Pemba, situated on the mainland in northern Mozambique, is accessed from Johannesburg, with direct flights operated by Airlink, as well as from Maputo, Dar es Salaam and Nairobi.
