Dining

The Houseboats are equipped with a kitchen making self catering a pleasure. Should travelers wish to have certain meals and snacks available for them, these can be arranged. Below is a sample menu of items which can be pre ordered to be available when embarking the boat. Alternatively, travelers can also enjoy dining at one of Knysna's find restaurants which are located at the Knysna Waterfront or nearby.

On board activities

Travellers gently cruise along the Knysna Lagoon and find a secluded spot on the lagoon where relaxing can be enjoyed.  Sun bathing on the deck or on a selected beach, diving into the water, dozing in the warm sun with the sound of water lapping beneath you makes for a perfect holiday. 

Bird watching is a wonderful treat on the Knysna lagoon and guests have the opportunity to fish from the boat.  Furthermore, kayaks as well as towable tubes can be rented during the time onboard for great fun and excitement.

On rainy days, the comfort of the houseboat ensures that entertainment and fun can be had here.  The inside of the cabin is ideal for board games, watching a DVD and reading in a peaceful setting.   The children especially love the experience on the water! They can jump into the lagoon, catch fish, go tubing behind the boat and enjoy the wonderful outdoors.  Where the lagoon is shallow, the hermit crabs and sea gulls will also keep the little ones interested for hours.

Houseboat - 2 passengers

These self-drive boats provide everything travelers might need during their trip. Suitable for up to 4 adults or a family of 5 (two adults and three children), the boats are equipped with a kitchen, dining table, beds and a deck.

Interior features:

  • Fore-cabin has a double bed, storage space and bench seat that doubles as a child’s bed
  • Fully fitted kitchen with stove, oven, electric fridge, sink and all kitchen utensils, crockery and cutlery
  • Compact bathroom with a hot shower, chemical toilet and basin

Houseboat - 3 passengers

Each fully furnished, self catering houseboat can accommodate either four adult passengers or a family of two adults with three children. The cabin is equipped with a kitchen, bathroom as well as beds.The outdoor deck provides seating space as well as the upper deck from where beautiful views can be enjoyed.

Houseboat - 4 passengers

Accommodating a maximum of five passengers, these luxuriously equipped houseboats on the Knysna Lagoon offer a bathroom, bedding, a dining table, a kitchen as well as decks from where to enjoy the outdoors.

Directions

Directions to the Reception for the Knysna Houseboats from George Airport:

On exiting George Airport turn right towards the N2 and at the N2 take the left slipway to Knysna.
Drive along the N2, passing through Wilderness and Sedgefield until you reach the town of Knysna.
After entering Knysna turn right at the 3rd set of traffic lights into Waterfront Drive.
Proceed along Waterfront Drive (railway line on your right), and pass through a set of traffic lights, passing the Waterfront on your right.
Turn right at the next set of traffic lights into Long Street (note 'Builders Trade' on your left and Tait Marine across the road on the right hand corner).
Proceed over the railway line and across the causeway and bridge onto THESEN ISLANDS.
Once on Thesen Islands continue until the roundabout at the end of the road, here take the first exit left.
Follow the road and Knysna Houseboats signs until you reach the stop street and cross over straight ahead.
Continue on the road around the Playground and you will find Knysna Houseboats on your right hand side where we look forward to welcoming you.

Take the N2 towards Knysna.
After entering Knysna turn left at the second sets of traffic lights into Waterfront Drive.
Proceed along Waterfront Drive and turn left at the first set of traffic lights into Long Street (note 'Builders Trade' on your right and Tait Marine across the road on the left hand corner).
Proceed over the railway line and across the causeway and bridge onto THESEN ISLANDS.
Once on Thesen Islands continue until the roundabout at the end of the road, here take the first exit left.
Follow the road and Knysna Houseboats signs until you reach the stop street and cross over straight ahead.
Continue on the road around the Playground and you will find Knysna Houseboats on your right hand side where we look forward to welcoming you.
