Dining at Kapama Southern Camp

Breakfast, as well as lunch, will be available in the open dining room while dinner is at the traditional outside Boma. Nature forms the backdrop for all meals, and a starlit sky overhead creates the perfect setting. A fully equipped wine cellar stocks only the finest wines from top South African vineyards.

Dining at the Kapama Buffalo Camp

Hot and cold breakfast and lunch options are spread out across the servery, while dinner is prepared in the kitchen or cooked on the grill and served around an open fire in the circular traditional outdoor boma. Dining at the Kapama Buffalo Camp provides an exceptional and memorable experience.

Dining at Kapama River Lodge

The Rhino Boma is the most popular buffet dinner venue at the River Lodge where a delicious variety of dishes are served under an open-sided thatch around a crackling fire. The Riverbed at the Kapama River Lodge is a romantic place to dine, with a star-studded African night sky above and the sand of the dry riverbed beneath you.

The Kapama Lounge is suitable for large groups, formal functions, product launches and conferences. It has its bar and lounge with two huge fireplaces with chimneys extending up to the open beam thatched roof. Substantial old leadwood trunks create a genuinely African feature inside the hall. Concertina glass panel doors open the space completely to let the sounds and smells in. Magnificent wine cellar stocks only the best South African wines. Three plate glass windows provide a view of the cellar which houses more than 600 bottles of fine wine.

Spa

Spa Facilities

The Wellness Centre at the Reserve features a spa as well as a state of the art gym, equipped with cardio and weight training facilities.

Relaxing spa treatments include facial, body and beauty therapies.  Here talented and experienced beauty technicians remain up to date with global trends. A lap pool is also available for guests to enjoy at the Wellness Centre.

Activities, Sports & Leisure

Safari Drives or Walking Safaris

Two daily game drives depart from the lodge with a skilled ranger and tracker. Being in big five countries, guests have a chance to see Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Rhino and Buffalo among other animals. Game drives include stops where a morning coffee or afternoon sundowner can be enjoyed. The bush walks allow guests to explore the environment with a ranger, learning about the variety of plant life and identifying animals from their footprints and dung. Large game is avoided when on foot, but animals can often be seen from a safe distance.

Wellness Centre

The luxurious wellness centre at Kapama exquisitely nestles in the African bush. It is a piece of paradise designed to uplift one's mind, body and soul. Complete with a state of the art gym, equipped with cardio and weight training facilities, the Kapama Wellness Centre energizes and uplifts in the healing presence of nature.

Spa treatments include facial, body and beauty treatments. Two signature treatments romantically merge the needs of couples. The Marula Rasul Steam Treatment is a sensual experience for two. Combining the wisdom of the Orient with the raw energy of Africa, this magical treatment balances the elements of water, fire, earth and air within the body. Another unique treatment for couples is the Kapama Pinotage Bliss; combining a deep body massage with an aromatic bathing experience in a detoxifying vine extract. Professional beauty technicians remain up to date with comprehensive treatments while ensuring the flow of African wisdom into the pampering experience.

Stepping from one invigorating treatment to the next, a lap pool welcomes guests at Kapama to lie back and relax under a breathtaking bushveld sky.

Hot Air Balloon

Giant candy-striped balloons lift off at first light, and this magnificent trip lasts about an hour. Best celebrated with a glass of bubbly, this memorable experience is highly recommended.

Hoedspruit Centre for Endangered Species

In this optional extra activity, a guide takes guests the Hoedspruit Centre for Endangered Species facility where some rehabilitated animals can be viewed at close range, including the infamous cheetah. An educational video is shown to guests who are followed by a guided tour.

Camping out

The Kapama Romance Platform gives guests the opportunity to sleep directly under the African moon. A billowing white mosquito netting surrounds a giant bed of white linen. The platform and luxury bathroom underneath (complete with flush toilet, rose head shower and his and her's basins) are animal-proof while a radio and mobile phone are used for your peace of mind. A personal chef can prepare a sundowner and a pre-arranged 5-course menu at the platform.
