Bring any occasion to life with a dinner experience of a lifetime at the Kuka Restaurant and Cocktail Lounge. Based at Perry’s Bridge Trading Post, the music, delicious cocktails and scrumptious food ensure that the restaurant is as pulsating as the colours on its walls. With stylish, afro-chic décor in an up-to-date and modern space, the restaurant serves breakfasts, lunches and dinners as well as a variety of delicious coffees and refreshing cocktails.
This perfectly positioned restaurant offers a bar and lounge and serves a large variation of tasty dishes all enjoyed with a variety of fine South African wines. This dining venue at Hippo Hollow seats 200 guests and the light and spacious restaurant opens out onto an expansive deck area that ensures guests feel at one with nature. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner with new and improved items being added to their menu regularly.
The Hotel features a lovely outdoor swimming pool which lies in the estate's garden. The pool offers a great refreshment during the warm afternoons.
The Shangaan River Club provides guests with the opportunity to immerse themselves in a night of Shangaan song-and-dance and a memorable African feast. Mouth-watering dishes are served from customary cast-iron pots enhancing the Shangaan experience.
All the festivities take place under the thatched boma where delicious South African and Shangaan cuisine and culture provide a night to remember. Entertainment includes the enthusiastic participation of children from a local AIDS orphanage as well as narratives from the local chief, via songs or proverbs, which enrich the evening with thei customs and heritage of the Shangaan people.
The unique Perry’s Bridge Trading Post is found a short kilometer away from the Hippo Hollow Country Estate. The Hippo Hollow supports the economic and social rebirth of the native area and its people by empowering the local communities to provide for their own needs and the Shangaan River Club is named after its people, the Shangana.
The Shangana are regarded as the earliest inhabitants of the area and the Shangaan River Club initiative has been in existence since 2003. It empowers the dancers and re-unites children with their African heritage thereby preserving the legacy for future generations.
The 18 local dancers, between the ages of 13 – 26 years of ages, are from the Venda, Tswana, Zulu and Swazi cultures, from the Msogwaba (Nelspruit) Community. The Shangaan River Club provides guests with the opportunity to immerse themselves in a night of Shangaan song-and-dance and a memorable African feast.
Travelers enjoy the air-conditioned Standard Rooms which are located on the first floor. These units provide thatched accommodation. The estate features all together 28 Courtyard Rooms and 26 Standard Rooms. Each Standard Room accommodates a maximum of two guests.

Directions from the Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport (KMIA) to the Hippo Hollow Country Estate, Hazyview / Mpumalanga:
Exit the airport taking the second exit at the roundabout onto the R538.
Turn left at the next T-junction and immediately right towards Plaston (R538).
Carry on straight for 8.7 km until you get to the first traffic lights in White River (Mosque is on your left hand side) and turn right onto the R40 towards Hazyview (Pass straight through the roundabout, traveling approximately 43 km)
At the T-junction turn left into Hazyview & continue straight through the C.B.D.
Once you have passed the Total Filling Station on your left, 500m further on you will find Perrys Bridge Trading Post & Hotel on your left hand side. Cross over the stop street and Hippo Hollow will be on your left hand side, before crossing the Sabie River.
Directions from Johannesburg / Pretoria to the Hippo Hollow Country Estate:
Take the N4 or the N12 to Nelspruit via Witbank and Middleburg.
Approximately 2km before Nelspruit take a slight left (travelling approximately 270 m) then take a right toward the R37.
Carry on straight through the first roundabout, taking the first exit at the second roundabout. At the second set of traffic lights take a left turn onto the R40 (travelling approximately 15km) until you reach the first Robot in White River.
Take a slight left at the first traffic lights then turn right, continue straight and take a slight left at the second set of traffic lights onto the R40. Carry on, passing straight through the roundabout (travelling approximately 43km)
At the T-junction turn left into Hazyview and continue straight through the C.B.D.
