The Fugitives Drift Lodge, Rorke’s Drift is located where the original Rattray homestead, the lodge features eight suites with private verandas. The lodges lush garden, which is home to many colourful birds, invites for strolls and a relaxing time outside.

Fugitives Drift Lodge provides views of both Isandlwana and accommodation is provided in the lodge as well as the Guest House. The lodge has spacious and well-appointed ensuite cottages featuring private verandas and magnificent views await the traveller. 

The Fugitives Drift Lodge outdoor swimming pool is from where beautiful vistas can be seen. This hotel offers visitors a relaxing place from where not only the scenic landscape can be admired by also where South Africa's rich history of the battlefields comes back to life through the exciting battlefield tours.

The Rorke’s Drift Guest House offers an outside dining area which offers magnificent views across the plain with Isandlwana in the far distance. They have large, en-suite bedrooms which are individually decorated featuring private verandas with beautiful vistas of the surrounding battlefields. Guests enjoy the outdoor swimming pool is in the estate's garden.

This area is famous for providing exciting battlefield trips which bring the battles of Rorke’s Drift and Isandlwana to life. There are also dedicated tours for children under 12 years of age. While the retreat world-renowned trips are provided to adults, shorter and more interactive tours which are led by a guide engage and inspire children with stories of the bravery and courage of the British soldiers and Zulu warriors.

Fugitives Drift Lodge is home to over 250 species of bird species including the Purple-crested Lourie as well as the Yellow Weaver. The estate's six horses are used to be around giraffes, zebras, and wildebeest. Guests have the unique opportunity to enjoy a horseback ride through this excellent game reserve from where breathtaking views of this property and its flora and fauna.

Furthermore, mountain bike trails can be found here as well, and bikes are available for hire. A leisurely walk to the Drift set on the Buffalo River affords a welcoming opportunity not only to swim in rapids and pools but also to fish. The 22km River frontage offers excellent fishing. Game walks, horseback riding, mountain biking as well as hiking.

Please note that the gate to Fugitives Drift Lodge and Guest House closes in the evenings at 6h00pm/18h00. Guests are to arrive before this time to check-in. It is recommended to provide the lodge with the travellers mobile & cell phone number and the estimated arrival time.
