The Palmiet Valley Estate Hotel in Paarl, Western Cape, is an exclusive country house hotel that has a history dating back to 1691, the time when some of the original European settlers and wine growers arrived in the Cape. The 94-acre estate is host to exotic fruit trees and endless grape vines of noble white grape varieties, such as Chardonnay and Chenin Blanc.

The Paarl homestead is in the stunning Cape Dutch style with accommodation in the two most famous buildings. The large garden area is surrounded by ancient oak trees, providing privacy and harmony for the perfect holiday. This Hotel is very convenient to reach by all guests as it is approximately 62 Km from Cape Town International Airport and Cape Town city centre. Also, Paarl is the nearest town being just five minutes away by car and guests has the option to follow the wine route to visit Franschhoek or Stellenbosch. The stunning peninsula beaches are mere 30-minute drives away from the Palmiet Valley Estate.

Rooms

Each room has an individual colour scheme and character with a separate luxury bathroom, most featuring a freestanding bathtub. Each room or suite is fitted with the convenience of a CD player, most rooms with air conditioning and climate control. A complimentary carafe of old sherry and a selection of fresh fruit welcome you on arrival. Also, each room has a balcony or terrace.

Cuisine

For a memorable dining experience, the country house will plan the menu around the personal requirements of their discerning clients within reason. Weather permitting, a relaxed breakfast is served outside, under the canopy of the ancient oak and jacaranda trees, or on the terrace overlooking the fragrant herb garden.

The Estate prides itself on the use of the freshest ingredients either from their garden or locally sourced. Wines from the estate, as well as a comprehensive range of the area's best wines, are available from the cellar to complement the food. Fresh fish, shellfish and game are our predominant style.

Sport & Activities

The mountain slopes around the Valley are where people can find some of the best wine estates in the Cape. It is a beautiful location for guests wanting to explore and learn more about wine with plenty of tasting possibilities. Guests are also invited to take a wander through the estate passing rows of beautiful vines that extend into the mountains. The private pool area provides the chance to relax or relax in the sunshine on a hot day and pockets of shade are plentiful for relaxing under the trees.

Children

  • Children up to the age of three years who can sleep in a cot stay free in the room of their parents
  • For children between four and twelve years, an extra bed or sleeper couch can be prepared in the room or cottage of the parents at an additional cost per child and night
  • If children are staying in their bedroom, the full rate will be charged.

Directions to the Estate, Paarl ( Cape Winelands)

From Cape Town International Airport

  • As you exit the airport take the instructions to the N2 Highway - Somerset West
  • After about 5km turn into the R300 - direction Bellville
  • At the end of the R 300 take the N1 Highway - Direction Paarl
  • Keep driving for about 35 km until you see "Worcester" (Exit 62A) Sonstraal Road. Please do not take any of the Paarl exits.
  • Take the exit 62 A (last exit before the Worcester toll gate)
  • Drive to the top of the exit ramp, turn left
  • Keep straight for approximately 800m, going straight over two stop streets (BP garage on your left)
  • You will travel over a small white bridge over the Palmiet River. Immediately after the bridge, you will see a significant stone wall engraved with PALMIER VALLEY ESTATE
  • Turn left and then right into the farm entrance: Welcome to Palmiet Valley Estate!

Directions from Cape Town

  • Take the N1 towards Paarl
  • Keep driving for about 65 km until you see "Worcester" (Exit 62A) Sonstraal Road. Please do not take any of the Paarl exits.
  • Take the exit 62 A (last exit before the Worcester toll gate)
  • Drive to the top of the exit ramp, turn left
  • Keep straight for approximately 800m, going straight over two stop streets (BP garage on your left)
  • You will travel over a small white bridge over the Palmiet River. Immediately after the bridge, you will see a big stone wall engraved.
  • Turn left and then right into the farm entrance.
