Morukuru Beach Lodge De Hoop Nature Reserve is famous for its views of the whales frolicking the waves, the towering white dunes and the Cape' fynbos natural vegetation with an amazing array of flowers and African wildlife including the Cape mountain zebra, eland, and the bontebok.
Fully inclusive in a remote location, completely off the grid and using a solar power supply for the electricity and pellet-burners to heat the water and underfloor heating. The delicious food and wine are sourced locally and commit to organic, seasonal fresh produce.

Camino: a route, a trail or a path. It is also an unforgettable experience and a unique journey.
Enjoy the sheer beauty of the De Hoop Nature Reserve and its offshore Marine Protected Area, during a 4 night / 5 day “slackpacking” experience. Over this period, you will have time to walk and / or relax at both the east and western sections of the De Hoop Nature Reserve plus enjoy a camino walk along the coastline from Lekkerwater Beach Lodge to Morukuru Beach Lodge. Follow the 14 km scenic trails and footpaths along the beaches, secret coves and rugged fynbos-covered coastline of De Hoop Reserve whilst being mesmerized by the endless views of the Indian Ocean and the surrounding hills, gorges, cavesand ravines. During the walk you could spot schools of dolphins playing in the surf, enjoy countless birdlife sightings including the endangered black oystercatcher and view other marine life sheltering in amongst the gullies and rock pools. Oh - and not forgetting lots of southern right whales during whale season (July – November).
The De Hoop Camino starts with an optional 6km walk from the parking area, into Lekkerwater Beach Lodge where you will stay for two nights. Over this time you can enjoy a guided fynbos walk or inter tidal coastal walk, or enjoy a swim in the rock pools (weather and tide dependant). From here you will embark on a leisurely self-guided 4 to 6 hour coastal walk to Morukuru Beach Lodge, further west. The next two nights will be spent at Morukuru Beach Lodge, where various activities like mountain biking, snorkelling, sandboarding and nature drives are included over and above some fabulous walks. If desired, you can also extend by another night or two with a 16km walk along the De Hoop Vlei into the interior of the Reserve to De Hoop Collection’s Opstal lodges.
Distances walked over the 5 days / 4 nights: Minimum 14km; maximum 24km & anything in between at your option.
Departure days starting at Lekkerwater: Every Monday, Wednesday or Friday (subject to lodge availability)
Minimum of 2 guests.
All transfers are included and guests don't have to worry about their luggage during the walk, we will take care of that. They will just need a day-pack for the walk. At the end of their stay guests will be transfered back to their (rental) car at Lekkerwater parking. Easy does it....
