The guided, 22 days Northern Experience Tour takes you from the beautiful city of Cape Town in South Africa via Namibia and Botswana to the magnificent Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe.
This safari adventure through Southern Africa includes visits to the Cedarberg, Orange River, Fish River Canyon, Sossusvlei, Sesriem, Swakopmund, Etosha, Okavango Delta, Caprivi, Chobe Park, Victoria Falls. - Accommodation: During 21 nights of your safari, you will stay in mid-range Lodges, Chalets and Tented Lodges.
Accommodation is in or near National Parks, on the banks of a river, or in other places of interest. Accommodation options have a private bathroom with a shower and toilet, while others have shared ablutions available. Some properties have swimming pools and bar areas.
Tour itinerary: The Northern Experience Tour (South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe)
Day 1: Cape Town, South Africa
Arrival in Cape Town. A day at leisure.
Day 2: Cape Town - Cedarberg Mountains, South Africa
An early start from the hotel takes us to the beach on the Atlantic to have a last look at Table Mountain. After lunch, onto Citrusdal in the Cedarberg. Citrusdal is a rural town set in citrus orchards.
Day 3: West Coast of South Africa to Orange River, South Africa
Travelling up the West Coast, through some magnificent mountain ranges on our way to the Orange River. If you are going in spring, you will see the spectacular carpets of wildflowers in the famous Namaqualand region.
Day 4: Canoeing on the Orange River on the Namibia side
The only travelling is in a canoe on this day. Put your feet up & relax as the currents take you down the river.
Day 5: Fish River Canyon, Namibia
Today we head off to Canon Road House close to the Fish River Canyon. Later in the evening, we take in another perfect African sunset with the magnificent views and scenery along the edge of the Canyon.
Day 6: Sossusvlei, Namibia
Moving inland we make our way to lodge, near the world’s highest dunes at Sossusvlei.
Day 7: Sesriem and Sossusvlei, Namibia
We visit the world’s highest dunes at Sossusvlei. A drive into the dunes is also available at an additional cost to Sossusvlei vlei parking area. At sunset, these red dunes, which can reach heights of over 330 m, are spectacular and provide a photo opportunity.
Day 8: Namib Naukluft Park & Kuiseb Canyon to Swakopmund, Namibia
The day is spent driving through the Namib Naukluft National Park and the Kuiseb Canyon on our way to Swakopmund.
Day 9: Swakopmund, Namibia
Take the opportunity to explore the German town by day and night. There are some activities to enjoy here; sand boarding, quad biking, skydiving and even fishing.
Day 10: Cape Cross Seal Colony & Brandberg Mountain
We follow the desolate Namibian coastline on our way out of Swakopmund to visit Africa’s a seal colony.
Leaving the Atlantic coastline behind we head inland across the desert planes for Brandberg, the highest mountain in Namibia.
Day 11: Twyfelfontein, Petrified Forest and Himba Village, Namibia
The morning start takes the group from Brandberg to Twyfelfontein and Petrified Forest. The day ends at Kamanjab and depending on the time of arrival a trip to the local Himba Village and if time does not allow the following morning.
Day 12: From Kamanjab to Etosha National Park, Namibia
After the cultural trip to Kamanjab, we head to Etosha National Park Lunch is eaten in the town of Outjo where we relax. The final destination for the day is Etosha Park. As the sunsets and late into the night the group has the chance to watch animals drink at floodlit waterholes.
Day 13-14: Etosha National Park, Namibia
We fill the next two days are filled with safari drives in the park. In the mornings we have the opportunity to take a safari drive. At all three camps, you can swim in the swimming pool and watch animals drink at the floodlit waterhole.
Day 15-16: Etosha onto Kavango River
Today we leave Etosha; we head to Rundu and onto the River Camp, which is on the Kavango River overlooking Angola. A sunset cruise, horse riding, traditional dancing in the evening as well as visiting a local village are optional, or you can just put your feet up and relax on the banks of the river as the sunsets.
Day 17 & 18: Kavango River onto Okavango Delta, Botswana
We leave Namibia for Etsha, on the western border of the Okavango Delta in Botswana. The next day is spent in the network of water pathways in mokoros canoes. The Delta is a =gem of Africa with a vast oasis of crystal clear lakelets, lagoons and palm islands.
Day 19: Eastern Caprivi, Namibia
Botswana, we drive up the border of the Okavango Delta and over into Namibia through the Caprivi to the camp on the banks of the Kwando River. In the afternoon you will go on a safari drive in the famous Mudumo National Park. In contrast to the rest of Namibia, the area is lush with riverine forest.
Day 20: Chobe National Park, Botswana
The next morning onto Camp Kwando and into Chobe National Park.
In the afternoon enjoy a sunset trip on the Chobe River. We spend the night camping on the banks of the Chobe listening to wild Africa.
Day 21: Chobe National Park to Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe
Today we leave for Victoria Falls and the afternoon is spent at the Falls with a guided.
Day 22: End of tour Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe
The tour ends after breakfast this morning. We can arrange an airport transfer upon request (own expense). We hope to welcome you to one of our African adventures soon.
