Sabi Sabi Expands to Cape Town with The Claremont Boutique Hotel

The Sabi Sabi Collection is set to make its Cape Town debut with the launch of The Claremont Boutique Hotel in September 2025 — the first venture outside its renowned Greater Kruger safari lodges.

Nestled in the leafy suburb of Claremont, the 15-room hotel is housed within a beautifully restored 1920s manor and will operate under the Sabi Sabi brand. Interiors are being reimagined in partnership with design studio Dakota Design, blending classic heritage with contemporary elegance.

Guests can choose from classic and deluxe rooms, or opt for the exclusive Sauer Suite, which offers a private pool and its own entrance. Accommodation is spread across the main manor and surrounding landscaped gardens.

• Garden conservatory and safari lounge.

The Story of the Manor

Over a century ago, English entrepreneur Frederick Henry Dumas Man envisioned a residence that would blend European elegance with Cape charm. He entrusted this vision to architect Magda Sauer, who responded with a timeless Cape Dutch homestead: The Andros. Today, as The Claremont, the Manor House continues to embody the spirit of its era. Gables catch the afternoon sun, sash windows invite in garden breezes, and every timber floorboard seems to echo stories of the past.

Where Time Slows - and Luxury Deepens

With just fifteen rooms, The Claremont offers a stay that is intimate and unhurried. Guests can choose from Deluxe Rooms, Classic Rooms, or the exclusive Sauer Villa. Some accommodations lie within the historic Manor House; others open directly onto the gardens or rest beside the serene pool. Each room features en-suite bathrooms, indulgent amenities, and views that restore and inspire. Service is warm and attentive, designed to make a stay in the city feel as grounding as a retreat in the countryside.

Between visits to the Constantia wine valley, Kirstenbosch Gardens, or the Atlantic Seaboard, guests are invited to linger—whether in the dappled light of the Conservatory, the safari-inspired library, or beneath the broad Plane tree on the terrace.

A Taste of the Cape - With a Twist

At Veld & Vine Bistro, The Claremont’s signature restaurant, Western Cape flavours are reimagined with Mediterranean ease and a distinctly South African sensibility. The menu shifts with the seasons and the harvest—think coastal seafood, fynbos-reared meats, and produce from local farms. Open daily for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, every dish tells a story of provenance and place.

Koffiehuis is The Claremont’s social heart—where sustainably sourced coffee is brewed with intention, and a proper high tea is served throughout the day. As evening nears, guests gather at the 1928 Craft Bar, a warm, vintage hideaway where rare wines, small-batch gins, and classic cocktails flow with quiet sophistication.
