The four-star Portswood Hotel can be found at Cape Town's premier spot at the famous Victoria and Alfred Waterfront near the Cape Town city centre.

The property is seen as an important part of Cape Town's history, as the lobby is built around the well and cells for prisoners en route to Robben Island 310 years ago. Today it offers comfortable accommodation, exclusive amenities and convenient facilities, including a swimming pool, restaurant, bar and business centre.

Cape Town's main attractions are all within easy reaches such as Table Mountain including its cable car, the Two Oceans Aquarium at the V&A Waterfront, the Camps Bay and Clifton beaches, Robben Island, the Castle of Cape Town and the many museums, exhibitions and markets in the city centre.

The hotel provides the ideal accommodation choice for business and leisure travellers alike. It is the sister hotel of the next door Commodore Hotel, both of which belong to the 'Legacy Hotels & Resorts' hotel group of South Africa. What makes this hotel unique is the excellent service, it is ideal for travellers and the rates are very well priced for a hotel situated in the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront.

For the hotels 103 rooms, consisting of 59 twin rooms, 35 double rooms, and nine suites, comfort has been kept in mind for each of them, so whichever room you choose, you are assured of a relaxing, unforgettable stay.

Guests can dine at the hotel's in-house restaurant or explore one of the many restaurants which lie within walking distance. The business centre is suitable for conference delegates and corporate travellers. The outdoor swimming pool offers a welcoming place for relaxation.

The Hotel boasts the Quarterdeck Restaurant, which specialises in Cape Malay, infused cuisine. The restaurant is also well known for its themed dinners and Sunday lunch carvery. They also have a Spitbraai on the first Sunday of every month, and a Potjiekos on the last Saturday of every month giving guests and local patrons a good taste of South African food flavours to enjoy on the Terrace by the pool. The Terrace offers light meals as well as the "Links Bar".

The property offers the Boardroom and Quarterdeck Restaurant as conferencing venues. They can cater up to 74 delegates. With its sister hotel next door, any larger conferencing requirement can be handled by The Commodore Hotel depending on availability. Full- and Half-day conference packages are available, and refreshments are catered for at both hotels. Individual catering can also be provided.

This was our first stay at any Cape Town Hotel but we were pleased with it. OK stanard hotel but with super location as it is not far to walk to all the shops and restaurants at the Waterfront.

Best to request a quieter room and possibly on higher floor for better views.

Note: the Portswood is not located exactly at the harbour of the waterfront and also no ocean views can be seen.

But you get here what you pay --- affordable price, good hotel with nice service...would come back here again for business and leisure.

Standard Hotel in a very good location. One can walk from here to the shops and restaurants at the Waterfront - very close. Has all one needs for a stay if no luxury is needed.

Stayed here for business and it was very good. The staff helped me with all my business requirements which I was glad about...the city with all businesses and headoffices is not far away at all, one could even walk. But its better to drive.

And all the restaurants and bars at the waterfront are only a 3 minute walk away from this hotel which I liked.

I hope to be able to bring my family here for Christmas...it would be very nice.

Greetings from Thoko Mogale (South Africa)

GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY

Ideally located at the V&A Waterfront, comfortable hotel. Although large, we were treated very special and the staff was so amazing. We walked to the Waterfront - also the restaurant experience was very pleasant.
