The Fairlawns Boutique Hotel & Spa opened its doors in Sandton, Johannesburg, on January 1997, with the first 13 Courtyard Suites, the restaurant, and bar.

The Fairlawns once the private home of Thacker family, this property was bought from the Oppenheimer Trust and the house consisted of 11 acres with stables, and rolling lawns, hence the name Fairlawns. The stately, park-like ambience with ancient trees and prolific birdlife makes for an ideal hotel set in the heart of a city.

The five-star Fairlawns hotel in Sandton features 12 Courtyard Suites, 6 Villa Suites (Superior Suites), 20 Grande Chateau Suites. The 250 square meter Presidential Residence which offers three en-suite bedrooms, a walk-in dressing room, double and steam showers, lounge and dining rooms, a study and kitchenette, a guest cloakroom, as well as a private entrance.

Convenient complimentary services which include transfers within the Sandton district and the use of the gym and steam room facilities. The focus is to provide personal, flexible service in a warm, environment. Full English breakfast and Continental are in the room rate.

The Spa seeks to recreate the principles of holistic healing in a pampering environment. The Balinese Spa Garden, with its hydrotherapy treatments, relaxation and dining pavilions and outdoor massage areas makes for a unique and tranquil setting to enjoy and relax. Hotel guests can use the Balinese Spa Garden, that has hydrotherapy & a relaxation area.

All candlelit dinners are held either in the private dining room, in the restaurant or on the outdoor terrace. In the summer, guests may request a table on the lawns under the stars, or near the lighted fountains which make for a memorable dining experience. Guests can enjoy a cocktail on the terrace and have cognac in front of the fire in the Colonial Bar.

To date, the bar has won: 2 merits, three platinum, and one diamond award by Diners Club "Wine list of the year" awards. The Rose Terrace is open to non-residents for breakfast, lunch and dinner, seven days a week.
