The Eden Lodge offers luxurious yet environmentally-friendly accommodation in Madagascar. This exclusive, sustainable development was the first Green Globe certified hotel in Madagascar. This lodge is in the diverse and untouched habitat of Madagascar in 8 hectares of forest. The hotel is near the Baobab Beach on the mainland opposite the island of Nosy Be. Colossal baobab trees line the beach, and sea turtles, colourful corals, wild lemurs and beautiful and rare birds are all part of a stay at the Lodge. The Lodge was the first entirely solar-powered hotel in the world with only laundry and dry cleaning services requiring a daily two-hour use of a power generator.
There are only eight lodges on offer which are a combination of traditional construction and a luxury tent, blending perfectly into the environment. Local materials such as stone, fallen trees, and coconut leaves have been used in the building of the lodges. The architecture of these beachfront lodges allows air to circulate freely and offer maximum comfort and simultaneous total immersion in nature.
The bar and restaurant are situated on the beach and offer a host of local, creative cuisine, made from fresh produce. The restaurant provides a range of seafood which is brought to the Lodge daily by local fishermen. Over the seasons, the chefs integrate the fruits of the beautiful park and vegetables from the organic garden into the menu.
Guests can enjoy an authentic local massage as well as other treatments which can be enjoyed in the comfort of their room. Visitors can experience the daily boat trips that sail out to the surrounding areas each morning. Guests meet the Sakalava people - the inhabitants of the neighbouring fishing villages, known for their warmth and profound kindness. Or if guests prefer, a range of water sports are available.
