This andBeyond Mnemba Island is a private island getaway is inhabited only by the retreat's guests and the staff. Measuring just 1.5 km in circumference, Mnemba Island is surrounded by a magnificent coral reef featuring one of Africa's most unusual dive sites. The calm ocean provides an ideal playground for water enthusiasts: swimming, snorkelling, scuba diving, fishing, kayaking, and standup paddleboarding directly from the beach are available.
Twelve rustic palm-frond Suites nestled in the tropical forest which is fringed by a white sand beach. The Suites are complete with en-suite bathrooms and beautiful decor. One of the beachside villas can accommodate children.
The island retreats thatched dining and sitting areas provide beautiful views of the beach and incredible vistas of Zanzibar. Lunch is often served on the unique wooden carved Zanzibar platters. The romantic candlelit dinners are offered on the beach, where the gentle waves lap at guests' feet.
Surrounded by a coral atoll, swimming and snorkelling can be enjoyed directly from the beach. Fantastic diving with great coral reefs and sheer wall dives are found here where guests can admire the colourful underwater world.
Guests are welcomed and collected by a representative of the lodge at the Zanzibar International Airport or Stone Town. It is about a one and a half hour trip which about 20 minutes being on the unpaved, bumpy road. Guests then travel about 10 to 15 minutes by boat in an open ski boat. No jetties are available. Therefore departures and landings are direct to and from the beach and require a bit of barefoot wading. The boat transfers are weather dependent.
