Agulhas Country Lodge is located in L’Agulhas (Cape Agulhas) in the most southern coastal village in Africa.

Built on an elevated position from natural limestone and blending into the slopes of the rocky hill. The Lodge has spectacular sea views and has eight ensuite bedrooms.

The hotel has a restaurant with sea views and delicious hearty three-course-dinners, including vegetarian and gluten-free dishes, freshly prepared meals using local produce where possible, served in the romantic candlelit setting, matched with wines sourced from the local region.

Tables are decked out in beautiful white linen, locally designed Carol Boyes handcrafted cutlery, cut-glass crystal stemware all adding to the romantic setting. For later in the evening, the well-stocked bar is a perfect spot for that evening tot by the side of the log-fire place. 

Several hikes are available starting from the hotel including the locally famous Spookdrai trail, a less than two-hour walk which includes many local stories and takes in vistas of the area. You can take a walk to see the southernmost tip of Africa at the point where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet and visit the second oldest working lighthouse in South Africa.

Watching as the whales swim along the coastline, usually between July and November is always a special sight! Bird watching can take place from the comfort of the hotel, or visit one of the many destinations around the area for even greater tranquillity in the hides close to Elim, about thirty minutes away. This outing can then be followed by tasting the wines along the six vineyards on the Elim Wine Route. 

Nearby in Struisbaai surfing and kitesurfing are enjoyed throughout the year.  For the energetic traveller canoes and surfboards can be hired for the day, or just enjoy the longest uninterrupted white beach in Southern Africa.
