Gary Player Golf Course

Located at the magnificent Sun City Resort in South Africa's North West Province, the Gary Player Country Club is probably the country's most well known golf course. This famous course, designed by Gary Player, is host to the annual Nedbank Golf Challenge.

This immaculately kept golf course is a challenge for golfers of all handicaps. Of the back markers the course measures 7000 meters but the variety of tees makes it possible to shorten the course to accommodate all level of players.

The fairways, greens and rough of the Gary Player Golf Course at Sun City consist of kikuyu grass. The kikuyu in the rough takes on a specially daunting character. The rough swallows your ball and the grass clings to the club head when attempting to play out of the rough. A distinguishing feature on this golffcourse is its putting greens. Strategically placed bunkers, swells and mounds protect super slick clover shaped greens. Its signature hole is the par five 9th with its island green.

Jungle Casino at the Sun City Resort

Located in Sun City's Entertainment Centre, the Jungle Casino which is a slots only Casino offers the latest in Smart Card operated machines, video and poker in both smoking and non-smoking areas. Denominations range from 10c – R10.

Lost City Golf Course

The second golf course at the Sun City Resort, namely the Lost City golf course has also been designed by  Gary Player.  This truly spectacular course features the royal Palace of the Lost City Hotel looming in the background, playing this challenging course is a memorable experience.

Gary Player designed the first nine in a desert style with a variety of cacti planted along the course. The back nine has a more indigenous African bushveld feel to it. Many of the holes have expansive views of the surrounding countryside.

The Lost City golf course at the Sun City Resort consists of large waste bunkers and generous fairway landing areas. One of the features of the course is the 13th hole with its crocodile infested lakes.

Be sure not to miss the opportunity to enjoy an after round sundowner at the Zimbabwe Ruins style clubhouse overlooking the 9th and 18th greens.

It is one of the most thrilling  and enjoyable water parks in the world, dominated by the Roaring Lagoon, a 6 500-square metre wave pool with a palm-fringed beach. Hydraulic mechanisms can generate a 1,8 metre wave every 90 seconds.  When waves are not generated, a bobbing cycle is generated in a diamond pattern.

The water park has five exhilarating flume rides:

  • The Tarantula and The Scorpion are body slides
  • The Viper and The Mamba are flume rides where the swimmers float on large inflated tubes
