Leopard Creek Golf Course at the Leopard Creek Country Club, Malelane (Mpumalanga, South Africa)
The Leopard Creek Golf Course and Country Club is located near Malelane in the heart of Mpumalanga, on the southern border of the Kruger National Park in South Africa. Typical bushveld koppies overlook this famous golf course from the east, providing an ideal backdrop for a magnificent course. Leopard Creek is a mere four-hour drive from Johannesburg or 40 minutes by plane, far away enough to provide total relaxation, yet close enough to enjoy easy access.
Johann Rupert established the pristine Leopard Creek golf course and designed with Gary Player a spectacular championship 18-hole golf course. They wanted a course which friends could play and enjoy, yet which could also test the best of players. The South African Leopard Creek Golf Course opened in 1996 as an exclusive club for like minded individuals sharing common values. Membership was by invitation only.
Small streams and lakes are found throughout the Leopard Creek Country Club creating challenging play to the golfer. Remodelling of the Leopard Creek golf course took place at the turn of the century with a change of grass on the greens to Bent and the installation of sub-air systems. Golfing hazards take on a new dimension at Leopard Creek, for much of the water is home to hippos and the creature for which the adjacent river is named - the crocodile.

The tee shot on the 18th-hole, a par-four is downhill and inviting and with water surrounding the green, is a challenge to most golfers. The 9th hole is a par-five, presenting an opportunity for long hitters to go for the green in two.
The signature hole on the Leopard Creek golf course is the par-five 13th, selected for both it’s challenge and striking beauty. A stream runs down the left side of the fairway and, from the green, golfers will be mesmerised by the spectacular views of the Kruger Park and its abundant wildlife across the Crocodile River.
