Potchefstroom's Oak Avenue which was planted in 1910 was declared a national heritage site in 1976.  The city's OPM Prozesky Bird Sanctuary, Buffelsvlei Wild Animal Park and the stately City Hall in Edwardian Classicist design are also of great interest for visitors.
