East London Golf Course, Eastern Cape (South Africa)

The East London Golf Course features a unique natural golf course layout, meandering through coastal dunes and indigenous bush.  The challenge of this magnificent golf course is enhanced by striking natural scenery overlooking the Indian Ocean.

Regarded as a golf course in South Africa which every golfer should play, the delightful playing experience at the East London Golf Course is set on fairways steeped in history.  Many of history’s top golfing champions have walked the fairways and played in South Africa’s Championship Tournaments at East London.
 
The greens and bunker complexes underwent reconstruction in August 2007 steering the East London Golf Course towards the top-rated venue it is today.  The East London Golf Club is one of the oldest golf clubs in South Africa.

A traditional course layout set amongst hills, dunes and coastal indigenous bush, East London Golf Club has a combination of both links and parkland features. The course is also home to a family of impala, resident on the course, the Knysna Loerie and other species of bird life.
 
The East London Golf Course has retained over the years a position of high recognition as one of the best Championship courses in South Africa. The East London Golf Club and Golf Course has played host to the SA Open six times and is a regular home for National and Regional Championships, Seniors and Nomads Tournaments.

The Clubhouse at the East London golf course

The East London golf club is situated in the suburb of Bunkers Hill just five kilometers north of central East London. The clubhouse is set on high ground overlooking the course with distant views of the sea and surf.  The clubhouse was refurbished during 2000/2001 to coincide with the hosting of the Mercedes Benz South African Open. This provided for the upgrading of several inside rooms and particularly laid emphasis on the public service areas for bars, catering and functions.

Main Lounge

The spacious main bar lounge at the East London Golf Club overlooks the golf course from its high position, and provides a comfortable atmosphere for relaxing with fellow golfers and friends over drinks and meals. This area comfortably accommodates up to 150 people and is used for all golf prize giving ceremonies.  A small bar menu is available for golfers during the day serving breakfast, lunches, light snacks, and large snack platters for golf groups at prize giving.  High quality plasma screens with DSTV sports channels are available in all bar areas.

East London Club Bar

In the far corner of the East London clubhouse you will find the warm, wood-panelled East London Club Bar which has a comfortable bar atmosphere, with sliding doors opening onto an open balcony with fantastic course views.

Halfway House

The old ‘Tea house’ which had stood for many years has been recently replaced with a state of the art new Halfway House kindly sponsored by local cleaning and security company, Red Alert. A meal at the Halfway House is a great feature of the East London Golf Club experience.

The Golf Shop

Our golf shop is the entry point for golfers onto the course, where you will be warmly welcomed and directed to the starting tee after checking in. The shop staff can provide caddies, or a golf cart for your round. The club does not currently have a Club Professional, but next to the course is a driving range with professional coaching available.
