Introducing Central Zambian Region
The Central Province is one of Zambia's nine provinces with the provincial capital called Kabwe. The Central Province of Zambia is divided into 6 districts which are Chibombo, Kabwe, Kapiri Mposhi, Mkushi, Mumbwa and Serenje.
The north-east region of Zambia's Central Province reaches the boundaries of the Bangweulu wetlands and includes the Kasanka National Park. The eastern side of the the Central Province stretches to the Luangwa National Park.
The Kafue National Park as well as the Mulobezi, Sichifulo, Mumbwa, Kasonso-Busanga, Lunga-Luswishi, Namwala, Bilili Springs, and the Nkala Game Managment Area are the second most important wildlife regions of Zambia. These wildlife areas are so vast in size that they are spread across two other provinces being the Southern and North Western Provinces of Zambia.
The Busanga Swamps and plain in the north is home to the largest concetration of mammals and birds in Zambia, while the Kafue River and the lake of the Itezhi-Tezhi Dam are frequented by hippos, crocodiles and aquatic birds. The northern part of the Kafue Flats and Blue Lagoon National Park are in Zambia's Central Province.
The beautiful Lunsemfwa and Lukusashi River valleys and their northern escarpment are located in the Central Province. The Lukanga Swamp borders the Lunga-Luswishi Game Managment Area being a magnificent wildlife haven, especially for aquatic birds and animals.
