Introducing Cabo Delgado

Cabo Delgado is the northernmost province in Mozambique.  Cabo Delgado covers an area of 77,867 km² and has an approximate population of 1,700,000.  Cabo Delgado borders Tanzania as well as the Mozambique's provinces of Nampula and Niassa.  This region of Mozambique is an ethnic stronghold of the Makonde tribe. Macua and Mwani ethnic groups are also present.  The town of Pemba is the capital of the Cabo Delgado province, with Montepuez and Mocimboa da Praia being other important cities in this province.

The province is named after Cape Delgado which is a coastal headland on the border between Mozambique and Tanzania, which forms the northernmost point in Mozambique.
