The Southern Region of Lesotho consists of the Quthing District as well as the Mohale's Hoek District.

Quthing District, Lesotho

The Quthing district in Lesotho has an approximate area of 2,916 km² with about 300,000 inhabitants.   Quthing which is also known as Moyeni, is the capital of the district.  The word Moyeni can be translated to "the place of the wind."  Quthing is home to the Masitise Cave House which is a satellite location of the Morija Museum & Archives.  In the southwest, south and east, Lesotho's Quthing district borders on the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa.

Mohale's Hoek District, Lesotho

The district of Mohale's Hoek in Lesotho stretches over an area of 3,530 km².  Mohale's Hoek is the capital city in this district.  In the southwest, Mohale's Hoek borders mostly on South Africa Free State Province.  Its southeastern border is shared with the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa.

• Maseru District in the north
• Thaba-Tseka District in the northeast
• Qacha's Nek District in the east
