Francistown in Botswana

Francistown is the second largest city in Botswana, Southern Africa.  Francistown has an approximate population of about 113,315.  Francistown in Botswana is often referred to as the "Capital of the North" as it is located in eastern Botswana, about 400 kilometres northeast from the capital Gaborone.

Francistown in Botswana is located at the confluence of the Tati and Inchwe rivers, in close proximity to the Shashe River, which is the tributary to the Limpopo river, and 90 kilometres from the international border with Zimbabwe. Francistown was the centre of southern Africa's first gold rush, and is still surrounded by several old and abandoned mines.

Mashatu Game Reserve, Botswana

The Mashatu Game Reserve is situated in the Northern Tuli Game Reserve of Botswana bordering South Africa.  defines Africa.  An array of wildlife from the gigantic to the miniscule can be observed here.  Guests have the opportunity to participate in game drives, horse-back safaris, cycling safaris and walks in the wild.

Visitors may experience the lives of Africa's big cats, as well as on of the world's largest mammals - the elephant - through the mesmerizing Mashatu Research Programme.  Mashatu provides different camps ranging from the luxury of the Mashatu Main Camp to the rustic appeal of Mashatu Tent Camp. Safari vehicles meander into the bush twice a day, bringing visitors into close contact with an Africa that is largely known only in wildlife documentaries and glossy books.

Khama Royal Residence and Cemetary

On Thathaganyana Hill in the centre of Serowe village one can find the ruins of an 11th century village, which provide evidence of habitation long before the arrival of the Ngwato and the Khama dynasty in 1902.  The royal graves nestle on top of this hill, overlooking the kgotla. The grave of Khama III is marked by a bronze duiker.
