Amanzimtoti, KwaZulu-Natal, Durban’s South Coast It is said that Amanzimtoti received its name from a remark made by Shaka Zulu. In the 1820s, when returning home, Shaka drank water from a refreshing stream and said the water to be „amanzi umtoti“, meaning „the water is sweet“. The beach stretches 3 km north of the Manzimtoti River providing safe bathing, picnic sites and a walt water swimming pool. Two golf courses which are located close to the beach as well as the bird sanctuary are part of Amanzimtoti’s attractions.
