Sharks of the Indian Ocean in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa
Due to the warm water currents off the KwaZulu-Natal coastline, this area is home to 12-14 kinds of shark , including the great white shark. The Zambezi ( or bull) shark, ragged tooth shark ( or sand tiger) and the hammerhead shark can also be found here. During South Africa’s summer time, the harmless whale shark also visits the coast of KwaZulu-Natal. Most of the beaches along the coastline in this region are protected by shark nets
