The Trogon House nestles in an untouched indigenous forest, halfway between Keurbooms River and Natures Valley, the most scenic and unspoiled stretch of the Garden Route. Elevated into the tree tops, the lodges of the Trogon House embrace the forest with see-through glass walls and sky-lit roofs, creating a true 'nature forest' experience.
This secluded hideaway offers two lodges, namely Malabar Lodge and Tomba Lodge designed to house 5 luxury rooms and 2 suites. Both lodges are identical and tastefully decorated with exquisite attention to detail. Each item found in the room is handpicked: the finest Egyptian linen, silks and crystal combined with exotic antique and African art treasures – pure indulgence for all senses is guaranteed and offered for a guest’s absolute enjoyment and pleasure.
Deep in the forest between the two lodges at the Trogon House & Forest Spa in Plettenberg Bay, a lantern lit open fire boma has been created to escape to absolute stillness or to celebrate events for up to 20 people.
The forest spa, which is available to both lodges, houses a natural stone fireplace with a candlelit Jacuzzi and glass steam room. The various massage and wellness treatments are provided by a renowned therapist and range from salt scrubs and Swedish Massages to Hot Stone and Aromatherapy treatments.
Following the latest trend and demand by the discerning VIP traveler for personalised privacy, the five star Trogon House in Plettenberg Bay may also be booked for the exclusive use of one party offering accommodation for a maximum of eight guests per lodge

The main lodge at Malabar houses the Trogon Restaurant and offers expansive reception areas and 2 bedroom suites. It is linked by elevated walkways to 2 hidden forest suites continuing on to a very private spa and treatment suite
Added to the existing lodge in February 2008, the Tomba Lodge houses the exceptional African artefact collection assembled by the owner over ten years, as well as the luxury décor - antique furniture pieces, crystal, fine Egyptian cotton linen and silks - for which Trogon House is already known. It sleeps up to 6 guests in three en-suite bedrooms, including the spacious and luxurious master suites overlooking the private pool and forest.
The two lodges are carefully positioned and designed to ensure that exclusivity and privacy are guaranteed at both properties. A walkway links the two lodges making the entire property ideal for smaller groups or even incentives.

During winter guests may enjoy a coffee and cuddle up on the couch infront of the fire place. In the summertime, guests may enjoy a freshly made fruity cocktail under the umbrella's on the swimming pool deck.
The Trogon House chooses the freshest ingredients and the chefs prepare the most delicious meals to satisfy even the finest palate. From a fresh crispy green salad with cashew nuts and strawberries to Fillet Al Anglaise. Visitors are invited for an unforgettable dining experience at the Trogon House.
Boma at the Trogon House
In the heart of the forest, between Malabar and Tomba Lodge the wooden walkway wanders down to earth to our open-fire forest boma, lit only by oil lanterns and the moon, sun and stars, a place of absolute quiet, the scent of the forest, the dance of the fireflies. The Boma is the place to taste one of the fine selection of South African wines and to join in with the jembe drumming circles.

Exclusive to guests at the Trogon House is the inhouse Spa, for absolute indulgence at any time of the day and night. The thatch and glass spa is completely surrounded by natural forest and amazingly the bright colours of the elusive Narina Trogon and Knysna Lourie birds in flight have often been seen from the glass sauna and steam room.
Guests may sip champagne in the candlelit jacuzzi, watch the dance of the open fire, and allow the professional therapist to indulge them with one of their spa treatments. Forest Reserve: Keurbooms River and Natures Valley, Garden Route

The journey to the Trogon House takes guests through an Elephant Sanctuary, Past the Birds of Eden and Monkeyland reserves to enter a 1.4km pristine track winding beneath the trees under the Forest Canopy.
Deep in the Forest the track opens up to an elevated sun-drenched pool deck high up in the canopy with spectacular views of Tsitsikamma forest. Being suspended on massive tree trunks, the lodge embraces the forest with glass walls and roofs, creating a true "in the forest" experience.

The accommodation at the Trogon House & Forest Spa in Plettenberg Bay, South Africa, is located in the two lodges, namely in the Malabar and the Tomba Lodge. The Trogon House features a total of four Deluxe Rooms with shower or bath and 1 Twin Room.
The four Deluxe Double Rooms are private thatch and glass forest suites with mini bar, tea & coffee making facilities and DSTV. Three of these luxurious suites feature king sized beds with glass showers. One Deluxe Suite provide two ¾ beds with bath. The private forest decks at each Deluxe Suite are a lovely place from where to enjoy the tranquility and nature.

The Trogon House's Tomba Lodge houses the exceptional African artefact collection assembled by the owner over ten years, as well as the luxury décor - antique furniture pieces, crystal, fine Egyptian cotton linen and silks - for which Trogon House is already known.
The Tomba Lodge accommodated up to 6 guests in three en-suite bedrooms, including the spacious and luxurious master suites overlooking the private swimming pool and forest.
The one Master Suite at the Trogon House is an expansive secluded suite with thatch and glass all around featuring a treetop swimming pool and deck. Stone bath and open glass forest shower, king bed, mini bar, tea & coffee making facilities are some of the amenities available in the Master Suite.

Children are welcome at the Trogon House but children under 8 are not recommended due to the elevated structure of lodges. Children under 12 years of age are charged an additional amount per night in their own double deluxe room all year through. Only the master suite can accommodate an extra single bed for a child sharing the same room . Children 2 and under stay free of charge. Children 12 years and over, adult rates apply.

Directions from Cape Town
The Trogon House & Forest Spa is situated about 150 km from Mossel Bay and about 50 km from Knysna. The location is The Crags, which is 16 km east from Plettenberg Bay. Take the N2, pass Knysna, pass Plettenberg Bay and continue past Keurboomstrand to The Crags. You will notice a Monkeyland sign on the N2, near the BP Garage (the Garage is also known as the Garden Route Superrette). Take the turn-off (on the right) at this BP Garage and follow the Monkeyland signs for a further 2km. The entrance to Trogon House is situated in the car park of Monkeyland. The road to Trogon House is indicated with a sign marked Trogon House & Forest Spa. Here you enter a dirt road that takes you straight into the forest. After a 1.4km drive along the fence of Monkeyland a sign will direct you to turn right to Trogonhouse carpark.
Directions from Port Elizabeth
The Trogon House is situated about 240 km from PE (on the N2), pass the Natures Valley turn-off (about 16 km from the toll gate), continue a further 500 meters on the N2 and turn to your left at the Monkeyland sign. Continue following the Monkeyland signs for another 2 km on the tarred road. Turn into Monkeyland and you will find the entrance to Trogon House in the car park. The road to Trogon House is indicated with a sign marked Trogon House & Forest Spa. Here you enter a dirt road that takes you straight into the forest. After a 1.4km drive along the fence of Monkeyland a sign will direct you to turn right to Trogonhouse carpark.

Please note that you are driving into the forest to get to Trogon House, the last 1.4 km is a dirt road which is subject to weather conditions and can from times to times be uneven and muddy after rain.
