Walking and Bird watching

The 4 star Tarn Country House is surrounded by numerous lovely walking trails which lead through the indigenous forests, down to Whiskey Creek, and along the ridge back towards the retreat's main gate. This trail provides the opportunity of seeing some of the amazingly diverse bird life, and small mammal species, such as bushbuck, grey duikers, porcupines, bush pig, chacma baboons and vervet monkeys. The bird-feeding table outside the reception is also a bird's paradise, particularly in the morning.

Directions to the Tarn Country House, Plettenberg Bay

From Cape Town:

From Cape Town, follow the N2, pass Plettenberg Bay, remain on the N2 and from the Bitou River Bridge, just outside Plettenberg Bay. The Tarn Country House is located after 9.2km on the left hand side of the road. You will turn left at the 2nd Tarn Country House sign.

From Port Elizabeth:

From Port Elizabeth follow the N2. From the Tsitsikamma Toll Gate, Tarn is approximately 20km on the right hand side of the road. You will turn right at the 2nd Tarn Country House sign. Off the N2- +-13 Km outside of Plettenberg Bay, sign on the left coming from Plett's side. (No street address)
