The four star Protea Hotel Ranch Resort is located within a 1000 hectare "malaria free" nature conservancy, just 25 kilometres south of Polokwane, and 2 hours north of Pretoria. This magnificent getaway enjoys easy access from both the N1 highway and the R101 main road.
The Protea Hotel Ranch Resort features more than 142 deluxe rooms and self catering accommodation with all modern conveniences, whilst the Presidential and Executive suites feature their own court yard and spa pool. Guests are welcome to wine and dine in either Basil's Fine Dining Restaurant, The Buttery Family Restaurant or the Golf Club House which overlooks the Executive golf course.
Thirteen well appointed air conditioned conference venues at the Protea Hotel Ranch Resort can accommodate up to 900 delegates with outdoor teambuilding facilities and tented camp. The four star Protea Hotel Ranch Resort offers 142 rooms which include Presidential suites, executive suites, family suites, spacious deluxe rooms and self-catering chalets. The hotel rooms are designed with large cottage style windows to ensure maximum natural light, and the opportunity to see the expansive views onto the colourful and tranquil surrounding gardens.
On the 12-hole, par-3 Executive Golf Course and Academy are 32 five star self-catering deluxe cottages, overlooking the expansive views of the lush green course and attractive small dams. The luxurious 5-star chalets, sleeping up to 6 people, comprise of a fully equipped kitchenette, open plan lounge and dining area, undercover patio & built-in braai. There are 2 inter-leading en-suite bedrooms, one with a king-size bed and the other with 2 x three-quarter beds. There is also an L-shaped sleeper couch in the lounge, suitable for two adults.

Walk with Lion experience at the Protea Hotel Ranch Resort
Guests have the unique and memorable opportunity to encounter free roaming, African lions in their natural habitat. Fully supervised and professionally managed by an experienced and qualified team who has been working with lions for many years, this close encounter is hard to describe.
Skilled guide, Mr Frank Kasakamula, has 15 years experience with lions of which the past 9 years have been at the resort. The ‘Walk With Lions’ experience is attracting attention from all parts of the world, where before this kind of interaction was never thought possible, it comes highly recommended from everyone that has experienced it.

The estate at the Protea Hotel Ranch Resort includes a Golf Clubhouse with a Pro Shop and the Golf Academy offers coaching to advanced players and beginners.
A resident Golf Pro is available for lessons for which bookings are recommended. Bookings should be made directly at the Pro-shop for individual and group tuition and coaching. Both beginners and seasoned golf players needing to fine tune their game, are welcome.
The magnificent 1000 hectare nature conservancy on which the Protea Hotel Ranch Resort is located, is home to about 30 species of game ranging from lions to giraffe and little bush babies.
Some of the lions who live here, and other species, are famous film stars, having acted in over 400 films and documentaries over the past several years. These films include block busters such as "The Gods must be Crazy" and the "Ghost in the Darkness".
As the lion cubs are bottle fed and hand raised, safe public interaction is assured. Guests may enjoy daily game drives and lions tours. Bookings need to be made in advance for all tours and activities.

The unique secluded outdoor venue The Bushwillow is tucked away within our own 1000 hectare conservancy. The conservancy is home to over 29 magnificent lions that can entertain guests with a private Lion show against the backdrop of bonfires at sunset, and dining under the velvet African starlit skies.

The Protea Hotel Ranch Resort in Polokwane nestles on 1000 hectares of country bushveld, only two hours drive north of Pretoria on the N1 Toll Road and 20 minutes south of Polokwane.
The closest airport is 25 km away from the hotel. For guests wishing to fly in, there is a registered 1200m landing strip on the premises, with co-ordinates 2403 South, 2917 East , elevation 1372m. Alternatively, Polokwane's Gateway International Airport is only a short drive away from the resort.
