The Protea Hotel by Marriott Chipata was built on the Umodzi Highway which is the entrance to Chipata Town from Katete.

Northern Zambian town of Chipata is a scenic town, which is surrounded by beautiful rolling hills. The hotel is three hours drive away from the South Luangwa National Park, only 16km from the Malawi border and 134km from Lilongwe which is the capital city of Malawi.

The Hotel provides a total of 40 rooms all with en-suite bathrooms. Guests can choose between a room with a king-size bed or a room with twin beds. Inter-leading rooms are available upon request and are ideal for families consisting of two adults and two children.

Guests are staying here, are invited to dine on the outdoor terrace where guests may dine while overlooking the beautiful garden of the hotel. Serving either a buffet menu or a la carte menu, this restaurant is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Guests can take a tour of the South Luangwa National Park; that is three hours drive from the Hotel. The national park has an abundance of exotic wildlife and a wildlife sanctuary.

The Hotel two conference venues. Luangwa 1 is the largest of the two conference venues and can host up to 54 delegates in a "U" shape setting and up to 60 representatives in a cinema setting.

Luangwa 2 is the smaller of the two conference venues at the hotel which can host up to 20 delegates in a cinema environment. Luangwa 1 and Luangwa 2 can be combined to make a conference venue which can hold up to 80 business delegates.
