Palace Of The Lost City, Sun City Südafrika

The Valley of Waves is the central feature of the Sun City Resort in South Africa.  This vast outdoor pool is one of the most advanced water parks in the world, dominated by the Roaring Lagoon, a 6 500-square metre (7560-square yards) wave pool with a palm-fringed beach.

Hydraulic mechanisms can generate a 1,8 metre (6 feet 8 inches) wave every 90 seconds. When waves are not generated, a bobbing cycle is generated in a diamond pattern. All Resort residents enter the park free of charge by presenting their resident cards. Day visitors pay an entrance fee to the Valley of the Waves Waterpark.

The hub of entertainment and gaming at the Sun City Resort takes place at the exciting Entertainment Centre which features a variety of restaurants and bars, a kid's games arcade, cinema and the well known Superbowl which has hosted world famous artists. A number of stores can be found at Sun City's Entertainment Centre.  The slots only Casino is also located at the Entertainment Centre and offers the latest in Smart Card operated machines.

Golf Courses at the Sun City Resort, South Africa

The Gary Player Country Club and Golf Course

The Gary Player Country Club overlooks the magnificent Gary Player Golf Course. This world renowned course was designed by Gary Player, and is the home of the Nedbank Golf Challenge, an annual golf tournament held at the resort. This is an 18 hole, par 72 walking course, with a 5km running trail along the course.

The Gary Player Country Club incorporates a Pro Shop, a health spa and gymnasium, two squash courts and a spinning studio.

The Lost City Country Club and Golf Course

This state-of-the-art clubhouse of the Lost City Country Club is a short walk from The Palace of the Lost City. The Lost City Golf Course was also designed by famed South African golfing figure, Gary Player.

This spectacular par-72 course is a cart course, features a water hazard of 20 live Nile crocodiles on the 13th hole and offers facilities such as a driving range, and golf Pro Shop.

Gary Player Health Spa

The luxurious health spa at the Sun City Resort is located at the Gary Player Country Club providing the perfect setting to relax and enjoy a wide range of hair and beauty treatments, hydro bath, Vichy Shower, spa-pool and steam room. The fully equipped gym also offers personal trainers. 

Royal Salon

The Royal Salon is located on the second floor of The Palace of the Lost City Hotel. A top team of stylists are on hand as well as beauty therapists for manicures, pedicures and facials. Massages are offered either at The Palace Pool Deck or in the comfort of the hotel room.

Adjoining the Sun City Resort lies the malaria free, Big Five Pilanesberg National Park.  Specialist Wildlife Safari's Tour Operators are situated at the Welcome Centre and guests of Sun City can also enjoy personalised game viewing at the neighbouring 55 000-hectare Pilanesberg National Park. Elephant encounters can also be booked at the Welcome Centre.

Specialist guides ensure guests experience a true African Safari aboard a specially equipped 6-seater Land cruiser. Guests can view Rhino's wallowing in cool mud baths and Bull Elephants fighting for supremacy in the clarity of daylight. Be a silent witness to a Lion kill, as antelopes graze unsuspecting of the danger lurking in the volcanic landscape. Amid the hills far from the Maddened Crowd, you might catch a glimpse of the elusive Buffalo as they wander unrestricted and free.

The Landcruisers are equipped with warm flannels and blankets for those cold, blustery night game drives. Experience the night adventure of nocturnal wildlife when Leopards are spotlighted beneath the stark moonlight of this arid landscape.

If you're intent on specific game viewing, then the Rhino Hiking Trail will appeal to adventurous guests. Track the White Rhino on foot within the Letsatsing Game Park. A guide will convey his substantial knowledge of these imposing creatures - feel at one with this primitive African creature.

In the early morning, a burst of colour emerges against a flawless sunrise backdrop. Passengers aboard the Hot Air Balloon, can enjoy the taste of South African sparkling wine before viewing the full spectrum of the Pilanesberg National
Park. On landing you are whisked away to a game lodge where a sumptuous breakfast is served.

Royal Baths at The Palace of the Lost City Hotel, Sun City Resort      

The Royal Baths, which tepid waters were reputed to have healing powers, were originally built over a natural spring. Crumbling roman pillars that tower overhead, creating a base upon which lush jungle creepers have grown surrounds this circular-shaped pool, also known as the Roman Baths.

There are 1.5 Million liters of water in this adult swimming pool at the Palace Hotel.  Here one can relax and enjoy the splendor of the African sunset, and be served drinks from the nearby Observatory Bar.

Botanical Gardens at The Sun City Resort

With endemic, indigenous and exotic plant species, the gardens at the Sun City Resort offer the different habitats, being the dry regions, rain forest, wetlands and the coastal vegetation. 

The botanical garden was established in 1998.  Over 1 600 000 plants, trees, shrubs and ground covers have been planted with 3200 species.

Teenage Entertainment: Club Chirp

Chirp Parties have finally found a home at Club Chirp on the upper level of the Entertainment Centre. Open for teenagers aged 13 – 17, Club Chirp is a secure environment for teens looking to meet new people and make new friends. Strictly no one over 18 years and no alcohol.

Waterworld

Combine the excitement of parachuting, the thrill of water sports and parasailing. Let the expert instructors teach you how to water-ski or wake board. Ride a wave on a jet ski. A daily cruise around the private lake is a great way to enjoy a sundowner. Mini cars, Putt – Putt, Trampolines, Bumper Boats and Play Ground are all the exciting activities surrounding the lake.

Stimela Train Ride

Scenic train ride that goes passed the Cabanas Aviary and over a small part of the Waterworld lake. Observe the Impala, Nyala and Meerkats which live in this tranquil world.

Kamp Kwena Fort – Children’s programme

This is an active fun-filled children’s programme for ages 4 – 12 years. This is a great way to meet new friends and have fun doing playful and exciting things. There are two sessions daily, mornings and afternoons. Bring the children to a well-managed, safe and educational environment.  Night sessions for Children and Teens available during the peak seasons.
