Explore the 6.8 square kilometres of working farm, which follows the hand-picked tradition of making proudly Fair Trade accredited wines. Enjoy time wine tasting the selection of estates wine, followed by a picnic under the pecan-nut trees.
Accommodation and Facilities
The choice of accommodation is suitable for all who enjoy the comforts of luxury furnishings each offering vistas of the surrounding farmland or mountainous views. With the Classic Quarter Rooms located in the original Cape Dutch style buildings, dating back to 1723 covered by a natural thatched roof over the four-bedrooms and two spacious communal lounges. A private courtyard is there for you to relax in next to the cooling salt-water pool.
The lovingly restored Superior and Executive Suite are located above the original wine cellar and feature the original meter-thick walls, an updated-thatch roof and original quality wooden doors, furnished with comfortable luxurious fittings.
The Executive Family Suites was built in the 1800’s with the original wooden flooring emitting the quality charm of days-gone-by. Its adjacent to the main building, its newly built suites having their own private entrances, top quality fittings and plush comfortable furnishings.

The Classic Quarters Cape Dutch style building built in 1723. The beautiful thatch roof encompasses 4-Rooms and two communal lounges, complete with a private courtyard and is situated next to the salt-water pool. Rooms are either on the ground floor or on the first floor under the eaves of the thatched roof.
With a choice of bed variations, either king-sized beds or single beds and options for accompanying infants, and varying bathroom facilities, baths or showers, please speak to us about your requirements. The rooms have coffee & tea facilities, percale linen with the ground-floor rooms having underfloor heating.
Classic Quarters Triple
Room 2 is located on the ground floor featuring a ceiling fan with a king size bed (can also be made-up as twin beds) as well as a single bed for a child or a third person.

The Executive Suite is located above the original wine cellar building featuring the original one-meter-thick walls, an updated-thatch roof and the original quality wooden doors, furnished with comfortable luxurious fittings.
The suite is approximately 120sq meters, with a private staircase leading to stunning mountains views, and the pecan-nut orchard. The room is adorned with a king-sized bed, air-conditioning, a Victorian bath, a separate shower, toilet and bidet alongside a fully stocked mini bar.
Executive Suite Family
The two Executive Family Suites were built in the 1800’s adjacent to the main building, the newly built suites have their own private entrances, top-quality fittings and comfortable furnishings.
One room has the original wooden flooring, a long-length king-size bed which can also be made up as twin beds if you prefer, percale linen, an air-conditioning unit, coffee and tea facilities and a well-stocked mini bar. The en-suite bathroom with opulent bath, oversized shower, the toilet and bidet also has underfloor heating. The spacious porch area is suitable for private dining and lounging. This room also has an extra single bed in the entrance hall to accommodate a child and/or a cot can be put in here for infants. The room overlooks the orchard.
The second Executive Family Suites is suitable for those who desire a bit of extra space, with an open plan bed and bathroom, a king-size bed, percale linen, coffee & tea station, a stocked mini-bar and an air-conditioning unit. The open plan bathroom has a claw foot bath, large shower complete with en-suite toilet & bidet. The room also overlooks the orchard.

Leaving from Cape Town International Airport
to Jan Harmsgat Country House takes approximately 2 h 15minutes. being just under 200km going via N1 and R60.
Please be aware that this route, being the fastest way to get there has a toll road.
Leave the airport and get onto Settlers Way/N2 in Crossroads from Airport Ring Rd and Borcherds Quarry Rd/M22 for 8 min (3.2 km)
Take the N1 to R60 in Worcester for 1 h 7 min (104 km)
Drive along the R60 for 1 h 2 min (87.1 km)
Jan Harmsgat Country House will be on your left and can be seen by the white building structure at the entrance as you are coming down the hill.
