Nestling on the southern bank of the Bitou River in Plettenberg Bay, Western Cape, the four star Emily Moon River Lodge is a small, exclusive Lodge with accommodation for just 16 adult guests and two children over the age of eight years.

It is here in this magnificent setting where luxury and peace are found in a sweeping river valley, where the views encompass a wetland, winding river and distant mountains.  Each luxurious suite at the Emily Moon River Lodge is a separate lodge for two people, with their own sitting areas, private viewing decks and spacious, fully appointed bathrooms.

The eight separate luxurious lodges at the Emily Moon River Lodge in Plettenberg Bay, South Africa, are private, spacious and sumptuous with a decor one might term as chic African contemporary. All rooms provide breathtaking views.  Accommodation is provided in seven lodges for two adults per unit, plus one family lodge sleeping two adults and two children.

Each secluded lodge at the Emily Moon River Lodge is individually and stylishly furnished featuring fully appointed bathrooms with underfloor heating. Each room is fitted with mini bars and satalite TV. Wooden viewing decks, open air showers, ceiling fans, plantation blinds, fireplaces, artworks collected from afar and Nguni hides provide for great comfort.

The Emily Moon River Lodge in Plettenberg Bay also offers guests a chance to stay in the self-catering house that can accommodate 6 people or more.

The Emily's Restaurant exudes the essence, spirit and feel of Africa with beautiful collectors pieces in every nook and cranny. The chef extraordinaire produces an eclectic menu for candlelit dinners and fun lunches around the swimming pool area relaxing, having a cocktail and enjoy the peacefull surroundings.

There is a vibey little bar and sundowner deck where a great buzz happens prior to dinner and a large log fireplace for after dinner Irishes or just a cosy little chat.

The chef has personally selected the wine list after a lengthy tasting process. His final selections have been made with his food and potential pairings therewith in mind.

Food and experimentation with flavour is the chef's passion followed closely by his passion for wine and its role in the complimenting and balancing of a meal. The chef at the Emily Moon River Lodge has chosen winemakers and estates that share this passion, not necessarily big names but instead offering a broad spectrum of options across the price range, with each having being carefully considered relative to his menu.  Dining at Emily Moon is an unparalled eating experience.

Conference facilities

The James Room at the Emily Moon River Lodge in Plettenberg Bay, South Africa, accommodates up to 100 guests and offers a projector, screen, good sound and a lap top computer.

Katy’s Bar with its beautiful views of the valley is ideal for breakaways and lunch or dinner can be served in the restaurant.

The Emily Moon River Lodge is located in close proximity to beautiful beaches, shops, golf courses and other restaurants and conveniently positioned for covering a large area of the Garden Route.

The retreat's position has a unique outlook over the Bitou Valley and Wetland with the winding Bitou River running through it. There is abundant bird life with flocks of geese and ducks, water birds of all sizes and descriptions, riverine bush that attracts many species of birds, and the brightly coloured sun birds that come in large numbers to feast on the nectar from flowers in the garden.
