Lalibela Game Reserve and Safari Lodge

The Lalibela is in the Eastern Cape of South Africa. It is of 7510 hectares and is home to Africa's Big Five.

Lalibela Game Reserve comprises three lodges, which are Tree Tops, Letaba and Marks Camp. It provides for an incredible safari getaway for families as new children's programs are offered.

The Lalibela lodge are in the Sidbury Hills, and the closest major town is Grahamstown and Port Elizabeth with is about one-hour travelling time.

The reception is 200 meters from the main gate. Facilities at this safari lodge include a lounge, bar, curio shop, bathrooms, covered outdoor dining as well as secure parking. Guests staying here are transferred from Reception to their lodge by land rover. The lodges have been recognised as four stars superior by the South African Grading Council.

No public roads pass through the Game Reserve, and all predators are free-roaming throughout the whole Reserve. The number of total beds available is 44 beds + 8 beds for children.

There are three safari lodges at Lalibela being Lentaba Lodge, Mark's Camp and Tree Tops each of which has its unique character. At all three lodges, secluded thatched chalets where magnificent indigenous gardens merge into the surrounding bush. Each en-suite room features a private observation deck to make the most of the views. The lodges also boast a large lounge, viewing deck and a sunny swimming pool.

The outdoor dining which is used for fireside dinners and outdoor brunches, as well as stylish indoor dining areas, make for unforgettable dining experiences.

Lentaba Lodge

The "lodge on the hillside", can accommodate 16 guests in eight secluded thatched chalets. Each en-suite unit features a private observation deck to make the most of the views over the valley bushveld. Each cottage has air-conditioning as well as a ceiling fan.

The main lodge is decorated in a traditional safari style and boasts a large lounge, viewing deck and a sunny swimming pool where guests are invited to spend a lazy afternoon.

The outdoor dining "boma" provides a magnificent view of a waterhole, which is spotlit after dark for night wildlife viewing. There is also a stylish indoor dining area. Brunch is served al fresco on the main viewing deck.

Mark's Camp

The stone and thatch chalets, as well as the main lodge at Lalibela's Mark's Camp, are decorated in a relaxed Pan-African style. This lodge sleeps up to 20 guests in four individual chalets and four family cottages. Each comfortably furnished cottage features an en-suite bathroom and air-conditioning for those warm summer nights. The cabins open up onto a private deck with views over the surrounding bush.

Between safari drives, guests can relax in the large lounge, bird watch from the viewing decks or laze around the swimming pool. Mark's Camp provides outdoor dining for fireside dinners and outdoor brunches, as well as a gracious indoor dining area.

Mark's Camp is perfect for families travelling with young children. The three family rooms & 1 family suite can sleep up to 10 adults and eight children.

The Family Rooms at Mark's Camp are very similar to the standard rooms and provide all the facilities of the standard rooms. They have a bath and shower, and the children's sleeping area is divided from the main room by a lattice partition. Baby cots are available on request.

Tree Tops Tented Camp

The Tree Tops Camp differs from the other lodges as this is a tented camp. The luxury safari tents at Tree Tops perch high on thatched platforms and are joined by raised walkways offering spectacular views over the thickly-wooded valley. The rooms, with their canvas walls and thatched roofs, have huge window areas and give guests the feeling of being right in the bush. Each air-conditioned room has a private veranda where guests can sit and relax in privacy.

The Tree Tops Lodge provides a large lounge and open-air dining deck with a view over a small waterhole. Guests can sunbathe around the swimming pool or relax in the shaded gazebo.

Special care and consideration were taken during the construction of Tree Tops Lodge to minimise the impact on the natural vegetation in the valley. Tree Tops sleeps ten people in 5 rooms.
