When planning a vacation and deciding for a destination, one searches for a new place to go to where one can experience something adventurous and exciting.  South Africa offers many different regions which are worth a visit, each unique and beautiful in its own way. The Drakensberg is the largest mountain range in South Africa, its peaks reaches 3,451 meters and is quite an adventurous place. This mountain range is often referred to as ‘Ukhahlamba’ which means the ‘barriers as spears’. Stretching from Dordrecht to Tzaneen, this magnificent mountain range offers a great adventure for mountain climbing and hiking.

This amazing forest near Plettenberg Bay on South Africa’s Garden Route derives its name from a Zulu word meaning ‘a place that has an abundance of water’.  The Tsitsikamma Forest is home to the world’s oldest yellowwood and stinkwood trees. The forest is one of the  world’s largest marine protected areas and is home to dolphins and whales along its coastal side.  Many exciting outdoor activities can be enjoyed here which include hiking, mountain biking and canopy tours.

Cradle of Humankind in the Magaliesberg

The Cradle of Humankind which is located in the scenic Magaliesberg of South Africa near Johannesburg features fossilized remains of items that man used in the ancient times.  In addition, this place is so big and offers so much historical information, it goes without a saying that this site is a great place to learn more about our origin.

Table Mountain in Cape Town, Western Cape

Cape Town’s iconic Table Mountain reaches a staggering 1086 meter height above the sea. The vast area which this mountain range in and around Cape Town occupies is around 200km leading all the way to the Cape Peninsula.  What is very unique and striking about this mountain is that many species of fynbos can be found here making this a great botanical location.  The Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden offers a great display of indigenous South African plans in their natural habitat while hiking trails lead all the way up to the top of Table Mountain from here.

Cape Point Nature Reserve, Western Cape

Cape Point and the Cape of Good Hope are situated at the tip of the African continent.  Coming here makes for a great full day or half day sightseeing tour from Cape Town.  Wonderful beaches can be visited here while hiking trails lead all the way around the reserve.  A lighthouse provides visitors with a great location from where to enjoy magnificent views over the ocean.
