The Leriba Hotel in Pretoria, South Africa, is a member of the Endangered Wildlife Trust and they are proud of this piece of natural habitat located in the city. More than 200 exotic trees were removed and replaced by over 1000 indigenous plants which has happened over the last 10 years, in doing this it has created a natural environment for birds and insects. There is more and more development and an increasing number of people settling in the Centurion/Pretoria area, there will be a need for this indigenous forest, conserved for the benefit of future generations.
The Leriba Hotel in Pretoria has recently become a Silver accredited member of the Heritage Environmental Management Company and International Green Globe certification, which is the largest and most successful environment management system and certification program of its kind in Africa at this stage. The Leriba Hotel maintains and develops sustainable eco-friendly practises that benefit all of us, this is their contribution on enviromental responsiblity.
Green Globe Certification is the worldwide sustainability system that is based on internationally-accepted criteria for sustainable operation and management of travel and tourism businesses, they are currently operating under a
worldwide license in over 83 countries.
The Leriba Hotel recognises and shares the environmental aspirations of many of their customers and as a result implemented a program under the auspices of the Heritage Environmental Management Company of environmental friendly and sustainable practices to shrink their carbon foot print.
