A new look for The Greenhouse – Cellars Hohenort Hotel
The Greenhouse, which is one of Cape Town’s top fine dining restaurants situated at the five star Cellars Hohenort Hotel & Spa, has undergone a complete redesign which includes the adjacent Fern Bar. The use of warm dark wood which is combibed with soft tones of honey and charcoal provide a welcoming and comfortable setting where superb cuisine take centre stage.
This eloquent dining experience is orchestrated by Executive Chef, Peter Tempelhoff. “Combining innovation without losing classical cooking fundamentals and combinations is our goal – as always,” the Executive Chef says, “The focus of the menu is Africa, with a nod to my time spent in Japan.”
The Greenhouse goes beyond traditional South African cuisine, incorporating conceptual creations from garden, veld and sea. A highlight on the menu is the African Single Origin Coffee tasting. Bring the birthplace of coffee, Ethiopia is the only country which celebrates coffee with a ceremony. The Greenhouse pays homage to this region including Rwanda, where civil war has decimated the area and coffee has been the community’s salvation. “I absolutely love the new space we have created and feel that the food and décor work in complete harmony together giving our guests a totally modern, relaxed and unique dining experience” adds Peter.
