The new Protea Hotel Sea Point shows the world a fresh, new face

New Look for the Protea Hotel Sea Point

Cape Town, South Africa

Cape Town’s three star Protea Hotel Sea Point has opened its doors to present a new fresh look to guests who are already enjoying the light and airy seaside feel at this centrally located hotel. The Protea Hotel Sea Point was closed for winter for revamping of the the public areas, restaurant and sea-facing rooms, and while the facade may look the same, this Cape Town Hotel has been completely transformed.

The surfboard which leans on a mini beach at the Protea Hotel Sea Point entrance sets the atmosphere for the new public areas which are now an open space incorporating a 9 meter long communal work table.  The open-plan design also includes the welcoming lounge, bar as well as the restaurant area all of which are decorated in textured blue and soft sand colours. Granite and marble have also been used to provide the new communal area with a great look making it a favorite location for socialising, relaxing, get-togethers or work.

iPads are available at this new communal work table, for guests to take benefit from the 500Mb of free Wi-Fi which are provided each day. Included in the design is a more comfortable lounge area with comfortable seating suitable for meetings or simply sitting back to chill. The Protea Hotel Sea Point’s restaurant patio has been redone with comfortable beach house style furniture and loads of greenery to ensure that diners get that seaside holiday feeling – even if they’re travelling on business!

The hotel rooms at this Sea Point Hotel have also been fitted with new, more environmentally friendly air-conditioners.  Among the changes in the sea-facing rooms are the modern amenities which meet the needs of business and leisure travellers alike.  The family rooms at this Cape Town Hotel are more spacious and offer greater flexibility with the option of four single beds or two double beds; ideally suited for families and groups. What remains the same is the authentic and personalised GUEST service and the central location of the hotel to the beautiful beaches, Cape Town’s famous attractions and the city centre.

Protea Hotel Group’s Director of Sales, Danny Bryer, mentioned that the transformation of the hotel interior is staggering. “The hotel still offers world-class service, but the feel of it has changed from depth of earthier tones to a space that is light, airy and extremely attractive. It’s a two-minute walk to the Promenade. Clifton and Camps Bay’s beaches and the city centre are a 5-minute drive away, as is the V&A Waterfront,” says Bryer.

“Protea Hotel Sea Point is one of those hospitality properties that provides a unique product offering for a range of different customers. It does immensely good conferencing trade, it’s a central location for business travellers (with the added bonus of the sea just outside the window) and families love the location as well as the family rooms.”

The Protea Hotel Sea Point is one of twelve Protea Hospitality Group properties in the city and it is the fourth hotel in the portfolio on the Atlantic Seaboard to have undergone a transformation since 2011.
