Taj Cape Town Hotel completed and officially open

Taj Cape Town, the new luxury international five-star hotel situated within the historic city centre of Cape Town in South Africa, marked its official opening on 20th March with all of its 177 rooms occupied.

The hotel had begun pre-opening trials several weeks ago taking limited room reservations. The Restaurants, Mint and the Bombay Brasserie, have been very well received to date and the third restaurant, the Twankey Bar, a contemporary seafood and champagne bar, is now also open.

The Jiva Grande Spa, which offers a range of health and beauty treatments as well as traditional Indian aromatherapy and Ayurvedic treatments, is taking bookings.

“We’re now 100% ready to warmly welcome our neighbouring Capetonians and out of town visitors to the Taj Cape Town,” says General Manager, Michael Pownall.

He says that every aspect of the hotel had to be ready before it was declared officially open because after an investment of over R500 million by Taj, Tata Africa and Eurocape, and two years of construction and the meticulous restoration of two historic Cape Town buildings, expectations were very high.

The hotel was delighted to be completely booked out for its opening week with an international company’s global conference attended by delegates from over 15 countries.

Pownall says there has been a tremendous amount of interest and a steady flow of reservations since the soft openings, forward bookings for the next three months are better than expected with strong demand for the World Cup period and beyond.

The Signal Restaurant at the 5 star Cape Grace Hotel in Cape Town, South Africa, has recently been recognized as “Best Deluxe Restaurant in the V&A Waterfront”.  The Signal Restaurant never fails to impress with the introduction of a mouth-watering vegan menu, classic Sunday brunch and the Pièce de résistance, the decadent sugar buffet.

VEGAN TASTING MENU

In response to an ever increasing number of guests with special dietary requirements, the Signal Restaurant at the Cape Grace Hotel now offers a five-course vegan tasting menu.  Visitors to the restaurant can enjoy Executive Chef, Malika van Reenen’s intended gastronomic experience without having to request changes to the regular tasting menu. Launched at the beginning of 2010, the well-balanced vegan menu is stirring taste-buds and creating a phenomenal response.

Available in Signal for dinner without prior arrangement, the vegan tasting menu offers highlights such as the wild rocket and quinoa salad served with organic baby beets, roasted butternut and radish topped with candy-striped beetroot crisps and walnut vinaigrette.  Also very popular on the menu is the dessert which is a study of berries made up of a strawberry soup with blackberries, raspberry sorbet with cranberry and hazelnut praline and a blueberry tart.

SUNDAY BUFFET

Starting 14 March, the Signal Restaurant at the Cape Grace Hotel is the place to be for Sunday Brunch served from 11h30 until 15h00.  Guests can help themselves from a delightful buffet offering irresistible treats ranging from flapjacks with Rooibos stewed fruit and mascarpone cheese to oysters on ice and even rose-scented pavlova with double cream and fresh berries.

Main course is served à la carte with options such as the full English breakfast muffin served with Parma ham, pork sausage, roasted tomatoes, sautéed wild mushrooms and hollandaise sauce or rib-eye steak grilled to perfection, to mention a few.

SUGAR AND SPICE

The now notorious Sugar Buffet is available from 11h00 – 18h00.  Served from the Library, guests can simply order any sweet indulgence priced at R12.00 per treat or, new on the menu is the ‘Sugar and Bubbles’ which includes unlimited items from the Sugar Buffet served with a glass of Graham Beck Rosé for R110.  Alternatively, guests may choose ‘Sugar and Spice’ – also priced at R110, this zesty offer includes unlimited items from the Sugar Buffet served with Malika’s hot Malay-spiced savoury snacks.

Hotel Izulu, Ballito, KwaZulu-Natal ( South Africa )

The Impilo Beauty Spa at the 5 star Hotel Izulu in Ballito, KwaZulu-Natal, has been beautifully refurbished. Each of the four treatment rooms offer a tranquil, relaxing feel with a clean, fresh new look befitting this 5-star eco-hotel. Turquoise hues and soft browns have been incorporated in the design palette, off set with dark wood finishes and floors, which offer a softer appeal to the spa and the private treatment rooms.

Adding to the existing, extensive spa menu, two new treatments are now available – a jet shower with the added benefit of steam, which helps eliminate toxins, increases circulation, improves skin colour and hydration and for a more invigorating treatment the ‘jet bath’ is enriched with essential oils combined with high powered water jets that simultaneously work on different pressure points of the body, aiding in relaxation and circulation – this treatment can also be enjoyed with a partner.

Clarins and TheraVine products are used in the Spa and now resident guests can order an eco-shower package in their suite.

Continuing with the health experience we’ve created a menu that offers light, nutritional meals that can be enjoyed on the spa rooftop terrace, by the pool or in the organic herb and vegetable garden.

Over the years the luxurious Hotel Izulu in South Africa’s magnificent KwaZulu-Natal province has developed from a fine boutique hotel, restaurant, spa and conference property to one that now offers a more holistic eco-friendly approach for its guests whilst maintaining 5-star service and standards.
