ZINZI RESTAURANT @ TSALA TREETOP LODGE AND VILLAS:

An abundant new dining experience was introduced to Hunter’s Country House and Tsala Treetop Lodge and Villas, with the opening of ZINZI Restaurant in 2009. Cleverly nestled between the two properties and uniquely designed with flair, comfort and the emphasis on relaxation and casual dining, ZINZI offers high and low dining with an eclectic mix of décor and lighting distinctively associated with the Hunter Hotel design ethic.

With its own private forest and dam views, the decks and stone masonry structure offers a wonderful taste of Africa, Europe and Asia on generous platters and the price range is affordable for the local and international market alike. Winter dining on Wed / Fri and Saturdays with warm fire places, ambient lighting and deck sundowners are a hit with the locals, whilst the Tsala guests always look forward to a new dining experience on the estate. ZINZI is now also open for lunch on Sat and Sundays with the kids being catered for at the Cub’s Corner and for the sporting enthusiast, a TV with current sports channels is always available in case the important game scores need to be checked during the course of the afternoon. Menus range from a choice of world platters, to a la carte menu options as well as a kiddies menu and the wine list offers a list of estate andlocal wines that are tantalizing temptations to add to the varied menu offering.

The new Tsala Villas are proving to be a hit with the locals as well as the international guests as the offering at Tsala has now extended to the elevated forest living experience which includes accommodation for 4 guests traveling together… The 6 Villas offer a spacious lounge, kitchenette with all the trimmings, a deck and private pool for 4 as well as a forest deck overlooking the pristine valley.

HUNTER HOTELS – SEPTEMBER 2009 – NEWSFLASH:

HUNTER’S COUNTRY HOUSE- PLETTENBERG BAY – GARDEN ROUTE

The Grande Dame of the Garden Route, The Hunters Country House, turns 20 on the 8th of September 2009. The Hotel will be celebrating with grandeur, special goodies and of course with the Hunter Hotels hospitality that they have become renowned for, will ensure that this unique family offering for kids of all ages and their parents, honeymooners, and other guests will be spoilt for choice as we celebrate her coming of age.

For the summer service to guests, they can expect to utilize the new Jogging / Walking and Birding Track starting from the secret gardens past the Premier Suites to the forest up to the Ridge and the dams – a total of 3.4km of private forest to exercise in. For keen birdwatchers, leather bound birding books are available at reception and perhaps the guests will be treated to the shy Knysna Tauracau (formerly known as the Knysna Loerie).

Families can enjoy the Boules Court set in the lawns and close to the main swimming pool as well as offering a new Teen Scene for the older guests with pool table, dartboard and arts ‘n craft scrapbooking station not to mention Big Screen TV and comfy bean bags – a haven from the pressures of teen life and heaven for Mum and Dad!

The Cub’s Corner still remains a favourite space for kids as they have their own paradise playground to be entertained in. Gingerbread Giraffes are always a hit in between blowing off steam on the Jungle Gym, using the paddle pond or making sandcastles.

REFURBISHMENT AND MAINTENANCE AT FANCOURT

The five star Fancourt Hotel, Golf & Spa Resort in George, South Africa’s famous Garden Route, has started with refurbishments and maintenance throughout the estate. There are several projects that will be undertaken in the upcoming months to ensure that we continue to fulfill our commitment of excellence towards you, our members and guests.

Refurbishment of the 300 and 400 series hotel rooms Rooms 318 to 328 will be renovated and refurbished over a period of ten weeks and should be open again by mid October.

Refurbishment of Rooms 401 to 418 will start on 12 October 2009 and should be completed by mid December.

The renovations in the 300 and 400 series should not effect general hotel operations and hotel guests will be accommodated away from these areas.

Fancourt SpaRenovations in the Fancourt Spa locker rooms and treatment rooms will take from 31 August 2009 and will be completed in the first week of November.

In order to not disrupt members and guests, the operating times of the Spa will be from 12:00 to 20:00 weekdays, and normal operating hours over weekends.

The Fancourt Spa facilities i.e sauna, steam room and tepidarium will only be available during Spa opening hours. The Roman Bath will be accessible from the top entrance. Members and guests are welcome to make use of the golf locker rooms over this period.

To minimise the inconvenience for fitness fanatics the gym will be temporary moved to the Leisure Centre for this period, 31 August 2009 to 02 November 2009. The opening hours will remain as is, ie 06:00 to 21:00.

New Look Tasting Room at Le Quartier Francais Hotel, Franschhoek

The Tasting Room, which is Le Quartier Francais Hotel’s flagship restaurant and one of the top 50 restaurants in the world, now offers diners two uniquely created tasting menus; an eight course – expertly paired with local wines – and a five course choice menu.

The décor has been revised and was designed to function as a platform for Margot Janse’s acclaimed cuisine. Conceptualised and realised by Herbert Janse, well-known Dutch set designer (and Margot’s brother), the stage aims to amplify the essence of what makes Margot’s food so exceptional. Art – from the owner’s private collection – by revered South African artist, Maud Sumner, is on display. New Rooms at Le Quartier Francais Hotel, Franschhoek
