Executive Chef Sven Niederbremer at The Westcliff Hotel, Johannesburg

Executive Chef Sven Niederbremer has returned to The Westcliff after a two year hiatus. He is already weaving his culinary passion and flavour into the menus at La Belle Terrasse restaurant. Some of the more adventurous new starters are Grilled Foie Gras with “Schinken”, Lentils and Balsamic; Ravioli of Quail with Leek salad and Tomato jus; Duo of Prawn and Calamari with Red Mullet, Risotto and Saffron sauce; and Rock Lobster with Avocado, Melon and Curry Crème Fraiche.

Alluring main courses include Seafood Pot au Feu; Springbok medallion with Beetroot, Spinach and Mustard sauce; and Beef Fillet with an Oxtail & Scallop Risotto. The desert menu is not easy to dismiss, offering an eclectic selection of imaginative creations – Rhubarb Tart with Marscapone mousse; Blue Cheese Panna Cotta with Beetroot and Peanut Butter; Grape Strudel with Gluhwein Ice-cream and Almond Sauce; and a Charlotte of Mango and Chocolate with Orange Sabayon, to name a few.

The Westcliff Hotel in Johannesburg

The 5 star Westcliff Hotel celebrates Ten Years of Excellence

Another big reason for The Westcliff to smile is the celebration of our Tenth Anniversary. The hotel opened in April 1998 in the most beautiful location in the city with unsurpassed views, constantly changing with the moods and colours of the passing seasons. Since then they haven’t looked back, each year striving to improve the quality of our offering and service, to perfect our guests’ experience of The Westcliff. To celebrate the ten years, Chef Sven has created a special four-course degustation menu, with each course offering a taste of three curiously complementary servings.
