Womens World Cup of Golf Sun City


The 2006 Women’s World Cup returns to South African shores for the second year in a row!

The 2006 event is taking place at the Sun City Resort, a prestigious hotel and resort complex in the North West Province of South Africa on 20 – 22 January 2006. The tournament will be played on the Gary Player Country Club course, voted as the best course in South Africa in 2005, and home to amongst others, the Million Dollar Golf Challenge.

Following the inaugural event in 2005, with a worldwide television audience of over 450 million households, the Women’s World Cup is proving to be one of the major highlights on the women’s golfing calendar, attracting the worlds best players including the US, British, South African and Australian Open Champions. The 2006 event is no different.

Endorsed by the Ladies Professional Golf Association and the Robe di Kappa Ladies European Tour, the 2006 field represents twenty nations, comprising of 40 of the worlds top players, including defending champions Japan, and host nation South Africa. The teams will play over three rounds of betterball, foursomes and strokeplay, competing for a total purse of $1.1million.
